I really like girls names beginning with M and have that ā€˜d’ sound in them, I think they sound strong. So if you have any other suggestions too?

As if a child would tease another child for having the name of a child who went missing 20 years prior

MM comes up regularly in the media and will continue to do so unless the case is suddenly solved.

Im not saying nobody should ever call a child Madeleine, in fact I have been quite clear this is my own opinion, I don't know why you need o argue my opinion. If you think it's fine and preferable to Mandy, just say that to OP. We all have different ideas about naming children.

Mandy is awful! Like Sharon or Tracey.

Proseccofuelled · 23/05/2019 21:26

I’m not arguing with you having an opinion - but I’m also entitled to think that it’s completely ridiculous Grin

Madeline.

Mandy is a middle aged woman’s name.

I know a toddler Amanda, with Mandy for short.

I am a Madeleine, just be warned that it will get pronounced and spelled wrongly (MadeLINE - urgh!) and I get called Mandy at least twice a day.

Divgirl2 · 25/05/2019 21:09

Mandy is what we used to call MDMA. So...not that.

Madeleine is beautiful

Eliza9919 · 26/05/2019 06:39

From your two, def Madeleine.

What about Melody?

Malyshek · 26/05/2019 15:37

I like Medina but in the current context may not be a good idea.
I prefer Madeline to Madeleine.
there's also Matilda or Mathilde.
I also like Melisande or Melliandra.

There's also Meadow, though I'm not personally keen, and Mercedes. Though she'd probably be nicknamed Mercy all the time.
and Mildred, though it's a bit dated.
