Hi, my last thread was opinions on:

Ivy
Etta
Willa
Bella

but we've put Ivy and Willa aside for time being, Etta is nice but I don't LOVE it. everyone said Bella is very much a dogs name and I agree, dh suggested Isabella and I love it!!
I think its really pretty. we wouldn't call her izzy or bella though, just Isabella maybe sometimes Isa. what do you think? does the popularity dull it? i'm not convinced so i'd just like some opinions please, thank you very much everyone :)

I think its lovely. Know one little girl with this name who goes by bella. When i suggested isabella to my husband for our first daughter though his response was "isabella isafella' Hmm

QueenintheNorth7 · 08/05/2019 20:40

I love Isabella, beautiful name ❤️

DramaAlpaca · 08/05/2019 21:49

I love it, it's much nicer than the names on your first list.

Bella444 · 08/05/2019 22:25

Love it. I definitely wanted an Isabella Adeline 😍

IABUQueen · 08/05/2019 22:28

Love love love

AuntieStella · 08/05/2019 22:32

It's a lovely name.

It was very frequently used form about 2005-2010, but Sophie (and variants) and Evie (and variants) have been ahead of Isabel (and variants) since then. Obviously, that's across the whole country - local peaks and wanes could be different (as for any name

MercyBodle · 09/05/2019 06:33

I'm afraid the continuing popularity over many years has dulled Isabella for me somewhat. Still, I see the appeal. I prefer Willa from your original list as I prefer feisty and unusual names over frilly and popular ones, but that's just me.

julesmumoftwins · 09/05/2019 06:40

If you were to shorten it to Isa I’d pronounce it as ‘Eesah’ which is a lovely Scandinavian name

EleanorReally · 09/05/2019 06:43

i like it, but you may find she is called Bella or Izzy, whether you like it or not

FannyOMalley · 09/05/2019 06:45

It’s lovely but extremely popular.

In my 10 yr old DD’s class there is an Isobel nn Izzy, Isabella nn Bella, Bella (just Bella) and Annabella nn Bella.

Likeagibbon · 09/05/2019 06:48

Other nickname options could be Ella or Belle? Do you like either of those? Or maybe even Isla??

Mitzicoco · 09/05/2019 06:51

Isabella is a lovely name. Also really like the name Eva. Maybe a bit less used?

windysowindy · 09/05/2019 06:53

I will tell you from close experience that 95% of people in the UK pronounce Isa as the Savings accounts from a bank, instead of the way you (and I) like it.
Endless explaining and correcting 😭

abcriskringle · 09/05/2019 06:59

I really love Isabella- it's a beautiful name. While not unusual, I wouldn't say it's hugely common or overused in my area at least.

WinnieTheW0rm · 09/05/2019 07:01

Eva is hugely, hugely popular right now.

Isabella peaked a decade or more ago

Mollie85 · 09/05/2019 08:49

We have an Isobel in the family and her mum doesn’t like Izzy so she’s an Ibby - don’t know if that helps any? Grin

Pinkprincess1978 · 09/05/2019 09:23

It's a beautiful name - remember though you can't police nick names especially at school so she could end up as Bella anyway. I don't think Isabella is as popular as Isabelle/Isabel (I have both spellings in family and my dds friend is also called Isabel so it's very popular).

Might not be as much now though as these children are all between 5/8. If popular names are not your thing I would avoid. I like all tour choices though, I would probably go with one of them.

RuthW · 09/05/2019 15:34

Isabella is lovely but there will be about five Isabelle/lsabella in her class at school.

oohbubbles1 · 09/05/2019 19:57

Thank you for the replies everyone! we still really like Isabella but have decided to keep looking to see if theres anything we prefer. Also liking Amelie and Millie/Milly but I think I prefer Isabella still Confused

Beautiful name but she’ll be one of at least 3 in every group, club, class she ever attends.

DieselSucker · 09/05/2019 20:19

Isabella is lovely. Way nicer than the other names in your list.

DobbysLeftSock · 09/05/2019 20:24

Taught an Isabella once. Whip smart and a lovely person. She wasn't nicknamed anything, she was just Isabella. There doesn't always have to be a nn!

FannyOMalley · 09/05/2019 21:07

Eva, Ava and Avy in above Bella-heavy class, btw! Probably the two most popular name variations.

Still18atheart · 09/05/2019 21:09

I really like it

diddlediddle · 09/05/2019 21:12

Not... more... isabelles/isabellas... 😩
