Sorry for another post, hopefully this will be the last!

Our baby girl arrived on Monday and we are yet to finalise a name. We’ve given ourselves a week to decide! Siblings are Lila (lie-la) and Edie.

Which would you go with?

Ava
Piper

Thanks!

Piper

Just sat here waiting for someone to shoot down my maths!

SleepingStandingUp · 05/05/2019 07:23

Piper is much nicer

If you split the numbers to get girls only I get it at bassi ally 1% but if you include all the Ava, Eva, Ada etc which all sound quite samey it'll be even higher.

Also, Charmed. Def Piper.

queenofmycastlex · 05/05/2019 07:30

Piper!

mrssunshinexxx · 05/05/2019 07:58

Piper reminds me of orange is the new black Grin

Ava x

Ava

Piper is a pets name.

Clownfish123 · 06/05/2019 10:20

I've never heard of the name Piper except on mumsnet and I am really into names!
I think it's too unusual next to Edie and Lila, and might cause her problems. On that basis I would go with Ava but it is very popular (alongside Eva/Evie etc)

girlsname · 06/05/2019 12:28

Thanks @WhoopImMaking6BucksAnHour that's actually really helpful! I worked it out for NSW in Australia and the results are similar :). So less than 1 in 100 girls, which I guess isn't too bad. I think we're definitely leaning towards Ava

Ava is much more feminine.

Piper is a surname.

BlueMerchant · 06/05/2019 14:45

Ava
Really don't like Piper. Sounds 'faddy'.

Yutes · 06/05/2019 15:03

Piper

Likeagibbon · 06/05/2019 20:26

Ava definately. We live in se england and my eldest daughter has 90 children in her year at school with 1 Ava. I also go to a playgroup weekly with 60+ children each week which has only ever had 1 Ava and my youngest daughters nursery doesnt have any. So I wouldnt consider it overly popular. Atleast not in my area.

Piper probably but it's a bit weird for a little girl. Not keen on Ava at all.

girlsname · 07/05/2019 00:25

So interesting to hear the opinions on Piper from a British perspective. In Australia it's a very established name and fairly popular (around number 50). Would it seem tacky (or chavvy- so sorry to use that word :( ) from a British perspective?

Piper goes best Smile

OohItsTheSoundOfThePolice · 07/05/2019 12:48

I wouldn't say it was tacky per se... I wouldn't consider it classic or classy though IYSWIM

hopelessatthinkingupusernames · 07/05/2019 13:18

I prefer Ava, I think it goes well with your other kids names

Clownfish123 · 07/05/2019 13:51

I dont think it sounds chavvy or tacky, just very unusual over here. Would take a bit of getting used to. I have a friend with a Ripley which has a similar vibe to me. It's grown on me though.

GwenCooper81 · 07/05/2019 14:00

I have a Piper. Neither trashy nor American ;). My Piper is older. I'm in England and it's definitely a real name.
I've never had a negative comment - - - to my face---.
Ava is gorgeous but very popular (for good reason). It also blends with the Eva's and Isla's etc.
