Sorry for another post, hopefully this will be the last!

Our baby girl arrived on Monday and we are yet to finalise a name. We’ve given ourselves a week to decide! Siblings are Lila (lie-la) and Edie.

Which would you go with?

Ava
Piper

Thanks!

Piper

Whoops75 · 04/05/2019 14:04

Ava

Piper is more a pet name

Pippa is lovely too.
Congratulations

zonkin · 04/05/2019 14:10

Piper

KindnessCrusader · 04/05/2019 14:29

Piper goes beautifully. Congratulations Thanks

MollyHuaCha · 04/05/2019 14:34

From the two names I would choose Ava.

Strokethefurrywall · 04/05/2019 18:01

Another vote for Piper! Congratulations!

hewontstopshitting · 04/05/2019 18:08

Ava, definitely

PlatypusLeague · 04/05/2019 18:39

Ava, by a long way.

Piper is a surname, oil rig or musician on a mountain.

fizzybubblepop · 04/05/2019 18:45

I love both but I think Ava is becoming quite popular if that's something that bothers you. There are three Ava's in the toddler group I go to.
Congratulations by the way. Hope you and baby are doing well.

Maybe you should watch Charmed

18 votes for Piper
11 votes for Ava

The only thing putting us off Ava is the popularity, so just need to decide if that bothers us enough 😬

Piper seems like a more marmite name, I'm not sure I liked it at first but it's really grown on me!

Between those 2... Ava
Sorry Piper doesn't sound like a name imo

DramaAlpaca · 04/05/2019 23:20

Ava definitely.

Broadlygotit · 04/05/2019 23:20

Both are beautiful but since Ava is quite popular now, I’d go for Piper! Congratulations! x

Whoops75 · 05/05/2019 00:10

The two pipers I know are puppies

Eva ?

Ihuntmonsters · 05/05/2019 00:14

I don't personally like surnames as first names so I'm not keen on Piper. Also it is to me much to similar to Lila. So of the two I'd opt for Ava.

whizzpopbangalang · 05/05/2019 00:40

When I was being indecisive about my daughters name someone asked me what I would prefer to be called if I was choosing a name for myself. That really helped me make a decision. Let us know which one you choose OP Smile

girlsname · 05/05/2019 00:49

That's a good way of looking at it! I have quite a popular name myself and I can't say it ever bothered me to have someone else in my class with the same name 🤔. I'd just always outruled the top names but maybe it shouldn't be an issue as we do love the name Ava.

We're in Australia where Piper is more of an established name than the UK, but my friends and family are all in the UK so I need it to work in both countries!

I still think of Piper Alpha when in hear Piper, but that is probably my age. Having said that I’m not keen as a name and would go for Ava.

Awrite · 05/05/2019 06:11

I like both.

I'm edging towards Piper due to Ava's popularity.

Ikeameatballs · 05/05/2019 06:14

I don’t like Ava. Piper is ok but goes well with your other names.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 05/05/2019 06:18

Piper? Is that a name? Not for me I'm afraid.

Ava is ok.

miamiibiza · 05/05/2019 06:33

Piper

NineinaBed · 05/05/2019 06:43

Definitely Piper.

WhoopImMaking6BucksAnHour · 05/05/2019 07:16

Ava by a long way.

To put the popularity of Ava into perspective, in the UK (I know you're in Aus) there were 679,106 births and of those only 3289 were called Ava... it's what? 0.4% of babies... and half of the 679106 were boys.

FWIW I've been on the baby/toddler scene a while and am not aware that I've met an Ava, or many Avas.

Piper for me is a surname and not very feminine at all. I would think of Piper in OITNB. Your other girls names are pretty and classic... piper, not so much.
