Baby no name

Our baby girl was born on Monday and we're still struggling to find a name.

What does everyone think of Harper or Poppy?

Thank you!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MerryMarigold · 01/05/2019 04:47

There are quite a lot of Poppies around but I like it as a name. Harper brings to mind the Beckhams. My son had no name for a week. We spent a long time getting it right and I love his name. My daughter's name was more rushed and I regret it a bit. Don't rush it, choose something you love.

MerryMarigold · 01/05/2019 04:48

Oh, and massive congratulations!!! I'm so jealous, love the newborn, squishie stage.

Rtmhwales · 01/05/2019 04:52

Mine was nameless for 24 days so take your time and try them both out for a few days.
I love Poppy. Harper sounds very American to me (I'm American myself) so as long as you don't mind that, it's lovely in its own way too.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/05/2019 04:59

Peyton.

BabyClicks · 01/05/2019 05:25

I love Poppy - that is what we have chosen for our little girl due in June. Our other choices were Imogen, Penny or Lola. Good luck deciding on a name and congratulations!

Peachbubble · 01/05/2019 06:05

Congratulations! I like Poppy much better than Harper btw.

fluorescentorange · 01/05/2019 06:14

Both are lovely but if it isn’t feeling right, don’t rush it.

If you like those two how about:
Kera
Flora
Robyn
Casey

Calixtine · 01/05/2019 06:31

I prefer Piper to either of those, and it feels like it might be your style?

Happyandglorious · 01/05/2019 06:46

Poppy

abcriskringle · 01/05/2019 07:02

Congratualtions! I like Poppy (or Polly). Enjoy your newborn cuddles!

imamearcat · 01/05/2019 07:04

Was also going to suggest Piper.

PlatypusLeague · 01/05/2019 07:19

Poppy, definitely.

Harper is too surnamey.

MercyBodle · 01/05/2019 07:21

Definitely Poppy out of those 2.

I also thought of Piper. And Pippa. And other flower names like Daisy, Iris, Violet. Penelope could have Poppy as a nickname.

SallyWD · 01/05/2019 07:25

I love Poppy. It's a lovely name. I know a 50 year old Poppy who's a doctor and has always been cool! I know a 15 year old Poppy and no others. It's not that common.

Flamingosnbears · 01/05/2019 08:31

Harper over poppy and just think when she's older you could read her to kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee - great roll model.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 01/05/2019 09:34

I was going to say Piper too. But out of those two-Harper. Poppy I think of a little girl, I only know two adult Poppies and it’s like they don’t suit their name in a weird way, it’s cutesy.

Icklepup · 01/05/2019 12:11

Poppy

tiramisu1 · 01/05/2019 12:43

Of the two, Harper. Poppy is way too cutesy and just one letter away from Poopy. Congrats btw.

Shadow1234 · 01/05/2019 15:12

I like both. Would probably edge more towards Harper, only because I have met quite a few Poppies over the years.

MerryMarigold · 01/05/2019 17:03

My dd had two Poppies in her class (she's 10). We're in Essex. I have one where I work (40 kids). Only Harper I know is Beckham one.

mondler · 01/05/2019 18:24

I like Harper best. I know 3 Poppy's all under 4yr old in the SE.

itbemay1 · 01/05/2019 18:28

Poppy is lovely. I know an 18 year old Poppy and she's super cool!

girlsname · 01/05/2019 20:38

Thanks everyone, and thank you for the advice r.e not rushing- it's just so difficult as absolutely everyone keeps asking if we've found a name yet.

I do really love Piper but was worried about it being rude in French???

I like Harper

BrownOwlknowsbest · 01/05/2019 22:50

Friends of mine announced that their daughter was to be called Number 3 until they could decide which name suited her. Would something similar be an answer for inquisitive friends?
