Edgar or Edmund?

I don't really like any boys names, but dh loves these two. I don't have a problem with either and think Eddie is quite sweet.

I just don't have a preference of one over the other so looking for opinions, or any issues with either? They both sound fine with our surname.

Thanks!

Edgar is great and love Edison as mentioned by PP

Ooh that's a hard choice I really dont like either.

Edmund is the mean brother in the lion the witch and the wardrobe and Edgar is the mean butler in the aristocats..!

I'd probably go with Edmund but call him ed/ted/ned?

Edwin or Edison as above are good alternatives i think

Edmund Bkackadder. Edgar Allen Poe. Both names are awful.

No - I’ve always loved Edmund. Edgar is a bit stuffy for me. I found out an Ed I know was of the ‘mund’ variety and it very superficially made me like him more Hmm

I think Edmund in Narnia is great! At the start of The Lion/Witch etc he’s a bit of a pig but later he mellows into a lovely character, who’s wise, gracious and humble.

I love them both!

Edmund

I don't like Edgar because of the character in one of the famous five books! Really turned me off the name as a child, and it stuck. Nothing actually wrong with it, though, just a strong character association (for me! Kids would probably have no such strong feelings now!)

I doubt that either name would directly lead to bullying. They're not that out there, and kids are quite accepting of names.

Not necessarily. My boy is very clear he is Edmund not Ed or Eddie. That’s what people call him.
