Help me with my second DS name please! DH prefers Cillian but the lack of a nickname is putting me off slightly.
Which do you prefer?

Ok I think I'm going to go with Cillian, with Kit as a nickname, thanks guys!

Kit from Cillian seems a bit...strange.

SassyBadger · 03/04/2019 13:20

Isn't Kit short for Christopher?

Nesssie · 03/04/2019 14:18

I would pronounce Cillian as Sillian and then think of Peaky Blinders.
And Kit is not a nn for Cillian.

If you want to call your child Kit, call him...Kit.

serenawren · 03/04/2019 14:28

@Nesssie yes, as I said, I will call him Kit, thanks!!

Cillian is not pronounced Sillian, even on Peaky Blinders Confused

serenawren - I meant just call him Kit, not Cillian. Thats like naming your child Laura but asking for the NN Lucy.

My thought process would be - pronounced 'Sillian' - then I would be correct to 'Killian' and then I would think Peaky Blinders.

Cillian

loveshinealight · 03/04/2019 17:26

Definitely Cillian. Harrison is overdone. Cillian sounds fresh. I went to uni with one.. he didn't have a nickname. Just Cillian. It's a lovely name.

Quintella · 03/04/2019 17:29

I've never met a Cillian or Killian who went by anything other than their full name.

Scarletrose18 · 04/04/2019 22:57

Harrison. Its a good strong name.

stellarfox · 04/04/2019 23:06

I like Harrison more as not keen on the kill in Cillian.

However using Kit as a nickname is fine. Kit is very different from Christopher so I don’t see why you couldn’t use it as a nickname for Cillian

Tiramisu1 · 05/04/2019 07:43

I prefer Cillian.

But I definitely wouldn't shorten to Kit! That has no resemblance to Cillian Confused

KingHenrysCodpiece · 05/04/2019 10:26

Harrison. Conveys strength and reliability. Love it!

HarrietM87 · 05/04/2019 10:30

Love Cillian.

Really don’t like surnames as first names (unless it’s a family name) so not a fan of Harrison.

queenbailey83 · 02/05/2019 07:38

My 9 year old son is Harrison , and we've actually never met another Harrison yet ! I Still love the name as much now as when we picked it xxx

Smellybluecheese · 02/05/2019 07:43

Cillian. Harrison is a surname and very common.

RuthW · 02/05/2019 07:50

Harrison. Less popular than Cillian. Cillian reminds me of Gillian and the shortened version is awful.
