Help me with my second DS name please! DH prefers Cillian but the lack of a nickname is putting me off slightly.
Which do you prefer?

Cillian! So many Harrisons..

Chickoletta · 02/04/2019 20:08

I've taught lots of naughty Harrisons and also think that it will date badly.

As your DH had Irish blood, Cillian is lovely. I currently teach a boy called Killy.

RoseReally · 02/04/2019 20:08

Much prefer Cillian.

Peachbubble · 02/04/2019 20:18

Harrison

Shadow1234 · 02/04/2019 20:18

Love them both - so no help there then!

EmrysAtticus · 02/04/2019 20:20

Definitely Cillian, a lovely name which isn't overused.

glsgow107 · 02/04/2019 20:34

I thought cillian was pronounced sillian?

keenwasalad · 02/04/2019 20:44

Love Cillian. Is there a Spanish/French version Kilian/Kylian? Like the runner (Jornet), perfumier and footballer (Mbappe)?

Greenlegobox · 02/04/2019 20:57

It's definitely Killian not Sillian.

SweetbutaPsycho · 02/04/2019 20:58

Cillian. Much cooler and more unique x

NameChangeNugget · 02/04/2019 21:01

Cillian, every time.

DD says there are 4 Harrison’s in my grand daughters class at primary school.

CaitlinsYellowSocks · 02/04/2019 21:47

Cillian. I think it's beautiful and less likely to date.

I like Harry and Henry but less keen on Harrison for some reason.

PinkieTuscadero · 02/04/2019 22:16

No I think it's just a variation of Killian. For some reason Killian is quite a popular name in France.

TheLastPharl · 02/04/2019 22:24

I wouldn’t choose either. Harrison is really common and there were three baby Cillian's in the NICU with my twins last year!

I actually think Cillian is a lovely name but it’s just too overused now.

DirtyNell · 02/04/2019 22:26

Killian is a known name in France because Brittany is a Celtic region, so the name comes from Gaelic.
There’s no K in the Gaelic alphabet.
The Cillian I know is known by a variety of pet names by his family- Kit, Keeks, and Ki-Ki.
Much nicer name than Harrison, imo.

SelkieRinnNaMara · 02/04/2019 22:30

Cillian

PinkieTuscadero · 02/04/2019 22:36

'There’s no K in the Gaelic alphabet.'

Irish alphabet

Harrison (my ds is Harri for short- the Welsh spelling of Harry- and Harrison when he’s naughty!) . I’m a Star Wars fan who has always loved Harrison Ford. He’s always been the only Harrison in his school ( my Harrison, that is, not Harrison Ford!).

Sophronia · 02/04/2019 23:17

Cillian

TildaTurnip · 02/04/2019 23:24

Harrison-34th in popularity (ONS)
Cillian-324th

I dislike ‘kill’ as a shortening but Kit I like. Prefer it to Harrison by quite a bit.

WillowintheUK · 03/04/2019 00:07

Nobody knows what NBN means then? Confused

Whoops75 · 03/04/2019 00:13

I like both
What’s your other child called?

Marcipex · 03/04/2019 00:13

I think it means naughty boy name.

Marcipex · 03/04/2019 00:16

I only know one Harrison, who is very well behaved (and never called Harry.)

I'd have said Sillian too. I could only think of Cilla Black. I don't know any Cillians.

serenawren · 03/04/2019 04:09

My other son is Alexander.

Had no idea Harrison was that popular!
