No from me.

EngagedAgain · 26/03/2019 21:42

Sorry meant Anna as a first name. Not keen on Riley at all.

RoseMartha · 26/03/2019 23:08

No from me too

BlueMerchant · 26/03/2019 23:10

Don't match at all.

mathanxiety · 27/03/2019 00:13

The Rileys I know (US) are all girls. Apologies to those whose name is Riley here, but I don't like it.

I think it's going to be a huge thing in the UK all the same (for girls), along with Quinn (for boys and girls), just because both names have reached a certain level of popularity and TV/media exposure, and in the case of Quinn because it sounds like Finn.

dreichuplands · 27/03/2019 00:33

It is useable but does remind me of a school register. It isn't the nicest name.

NabooThatsWho · 27/03/2019 08:16

what they are really thinking is that it is horribly chavvy.

Your attitude is horribly snobby.
OP this is mumsnet, you need to call your child Matilda or Persephone to get any kind of approval.

nsalat · 27/03/2019 09:22

NabooThatsWho: Yes I'm not liking the snobby elitism from some in this thread, just because I wish to fit in with modern trends and not use a dusty, musty name.

OP posts:
NabooThatsWho · 27/03/2019 09:28

Exactly OP. I’d say there will be quite a few of the children with the old lady names that wish they had a trendy modern name once they hit their teens.
Riley is a cool name so go for it!

nsalat · 27/03/2019 10:03

One of Patrick "Doctor Who" Troughton's granddaughter's is called Tierney, while her sister is called Florence. Parents' name choices can vary wildly, even within the same family.

Can't think of a dustier, mustier, more old lady name than Anne.

Lightsong · 27/03/2019 10:18

I know a 10 year old girl Riley (UK). It's not what I would choose but if you like it then go with it.

Marlena1 · 27/03/2019 10:31

What about Romi?

FindaPenny · 27/03/2019 10:36

I think they don't match really. The femininity of the name Anne sort of increases the masculinity of the name Riley if that makes sense.

GeriGremlin · 27/03/2019 10:41

I like Riley but how about Riley Annalise or Riley Annabelle.

Riley Anne is a little plain imo.

dreichuplands · 27/03/2019 11:50

I think one of the issues with the name combination is that Anne is very traditional, potentially a bit musty as you said and Riley is very modern being an asexual surname so they don't gel very smoothly.
There are lots of other modern American names to consider, Piper, Sailor, Harper, Casey, Delaney, Meadow and Paige.

autumnkate · 27/03/2019 14:06

Sailor is cute! Riley is quite an overdone boys’ name imo

BendydickCuminsnatch · 27/03/2019 17:33

Just sounds like Ry Leanne to me. But as it goes I rather like American names so not opposed to the names themselves.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 27/03/2019 17:36

OMG I love the name Tierney 😍 met a lovely one in SW London once. But I posted and it got ripped to shreds here.

IsolaPribby · 27/03/2019 17:40

Tierney is a fantastic name!

Go for that instead, OP!

golddustwomen · 27/03/2019 17:43

I like it!! Love Riley for a girl, does remind me of inside out but that's not a bad thing as I love that film!

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 17:45

Tierney and Riley are pretty similar to me. Both two syllable Irish surnames ending in an ee sound.

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 17:47

Riley isn't really a name I'd choose tbh but I know a lovely girl called Riley so it reminds me of her.

Chubbychic · 27/03/2019 17:50

I like both names but together sound a bit like rye leanne

elliejjtiny · 27/03/2019 17:53

I know a Riley Anne. I like it although all the British Rileys I know are boys .
