Whilst none of the names are terrible, please spelt Ivy in the traditional way and doesn't hyphenate it with Mae.

She'll spend her lifetime correcting other people's spellings.

Ivy Mae Lacey looks so much better.

bridgetreilly · 25/03/2019 10:23

Ivy Mae Lacey. Sorted.

SherlockSays · 25/03/2019 10:23

*spell

shirmae · 25/03/2019 10:24

I think Ivy-Mae is a lovely name, but spelling it Iveigh isn't the best idea, she'll spend her life correcting the spelling and pronunciation of it, it just doesn't flow and my brain stumbles over it tbh!

But why say you want Ivy for your Nanny, but then say it's Iveigh?

IncrediblySadToo · 25/03/2019 10:27

Aye right.

You could go for Iveigh Maiegh Laciegh

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 25/03/2019 10:28

I think the same as others. I dont love May/Mae as a middle name but if you loke it OP thats all that matters. Regardless of how your grandma spelt the name I'd go for Ivy. Its still your grandma's nsme but spelt the traditional way. I know your gran was spelt iveigh but in this day and age it lolks like you'd have done it to try to be different.

Ivy is a lovely name i liked it for my own daughter but there was a name i loved more which we chose. Xx

shirmae · 25/03/2019 10:30

cool guys keeps being rude but it just make me want the name more everyone likes it i know and it means alot

Whoops75 · 25/03/2019 10:30

Ivy May is enough

Just use Ivy as her name, Ivy-Mae isn’t as nice.

UterusesBeforeDuderuses · 25/03/2019 10:32

I hope this is a joke. Ivy is lovely. Iveigh is silly. Iveigh-Mae is awful

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 25/03/2019 10:33

do you want your DD to go through life having to endless return documents and constantly point out that her name isn't spelt Ivy? She may well end up hating that you did that.

It's her name, not yours.

CoffeeRunner · 25/03/2019 10:36

If your nanny's name is spelt Iveigh, then you need to use that spelling or you wouldn't really be naming your baby after her (in my opinion anyway).

But whichever spelling you use, I wouldn't hyphenate it to Mae. Just have Iveigh Mae Lacey or Ivy Mae Lacey.

Hyphenated first names are the Sharon & Tracey of this generation.

Fantababy · 25/03/2019 10:48

People will judge you and think you can't spell. If that makes you more determined to give her that name then so be it. Why ask? Your baby, your rules, hun.

Keener · 25/03/2019 10:54

cool guys keeps being rude but it just make me want the name more everyone likes it i know and it means alot

Well, if 'everyone' likes it, why come on here and ask people on the internet? Ivy is lovely. Iveigh is ghastly, and Iveigh-Mae is worse. Just call her Ivy Mae/May Surname.

ChariotsofFish · 25/03/2019 10:56

In English eigh isn’t pronounced the same as y. People will say it like inveigh.

mrsdavys · 25/03/2019 10:58

Oh that’s just hideous!!!
This has to be a joke but if not...
Spell it Ivy May and drop the Lacey and the hyphen and then you’ll be onto a winner.

Eatmycheese · 25/03/2019 11:00

What @chariots wrote.

OP do you want to call her Ivy? Spelt Iveigh they’ll call her Eye Vay

Lovely stuff

BlueMerchant · 25/03/2019 11:01

Ivy is by far best but I prefer Ivie to Iveigh.
Mae goes well. Like Lacey.

TacoLover · 25/03/2019 11:03

Sorry but Iveigh-Mae Lacey is fucking awful. Please don't name your child that.

mrsstephens89 · 25/03/2019 11:09

I mean when OP has a name like Shiralee-Mae, it’s hardly surprising she wants Iveigh-Mae Lacey...horrendous Hmm

ZebraKid71 · 25/03/2019 11:24

How are you pronouncing it?
I would say Ivy as eye-vee
And Iveigh as eye-vay (in which case it would rhyme with Mae and sound ridiculous)

I don't like double barrelled - Mae, but think Ivy Lacey Mae sounds lovely.
