Hi
I can't get on board with the current appetite for vintage names(Ava, Martha, Mabel etc)
But I want something traditional and substantial a bit sparky?
What are your opinions on the names Lucy and Zoe?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/03/2019 14:21

Lucy is lovely, Zoe is dated to me.

I wouldn’t say Lucy was sparky though.

zen1 Chloe is quite pleasing to my ears actually and hadn't considered it before

All the Lucy's I know are absolute bitches, so it really puts me off the name I'm afraid. They all tend to be manipulative bullies.
I do know a nice Lucie so that spelling is somehow better for me!
I like Zoe though, and much more unusual without being weird.

CallMeCarolDanvers · 25/03/2019 15:02

I have a Lucy, she's not a bitch! She's the only Lucy in her preschool, swimming class, gymnastics class and local baby groups so I don't think it's overused (she's 4). She isn't bland either. In fact she wouls sometimes tend towards 'spirited' šŸ˜‚

Mollie85 · 25/03/2019 15:08

Lucie or Lucy is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of Alice - it sparkles to me.

Zoe I love as one of my closest friends is called this and I love it by association. Plus Greek names are always in fashion, despite its surge of popularity 25-35 years ago.

Good luck with it all OP

Ohyesiam · 25/03/2019 15:12

I’m sorry but I’ve always found Lucy a bit wet.
Zoe is much better

mummyhaschangedhername · 25/03/2019 16:12

To answer how many Lucy's I know who are children, I think, including my 4 year old there are 4 in the school that I know of out of 285 children. I have three adult Lucy's on my Facebook. I know Two adult Zoe's, no children.

Sunshine1235 · 25/03/2019 16:15

Every Lucy I’ve ever known has been wonderful, so I associate it with lovely people and think it’s a greaf name op

Raspberrytruffle · 25/03/2019 16:16

Both are absolutely beautiful op, sorry I can't decide they are equally lovely

PinkieTuscadero · 25/03/2019 16:34

Zoe gets my vote. Much the sparkier of the two.

MsMustDoBetter · 25/03/2019 16:38

I love them both.

MikeUniformMike · 25/03/2019 16:55

I like both. Probably prefer Lucy, but they have quite a different vibe to them, so maybe pick the one that suits the baby best.

Awrite · 25/03/2019 16:59

Love both, prefer Lucy.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 25/03/2019 17:03

I prefer Zoe.
Lucy has always seemed a bit 'soft' to me (Sorry!).
I love Chloe.

as many people have already said, I think Lucy is a bit more sweet and gentle and Zoe is bit more spunky, but I love love love both these names, very nice picks! if you really can't decide between them maybe you should wait and see if she suits one more than the other x

Jammiebammie · 25/03/2019 17:08

I have a Zoƫ so obviously biased here, she was the only one in her primary school and there is one other in her high school now a few years below her. Always get positive comments on it and I loved the meaning when I was pregnant. Surprised the amount of people who always spell it wrongly though!
Lucy is really nice too.

ReginaPhalange89 · 25/03/2019 17:09

Zoe was on my list if this baby was a girl ! I prefer that to Lucy

My favourite girls name is Phoebe ! Just a suggestion lol

herecome · 25/03/2019 17:46

There is A different vibe Mike, perhaps Zoe achieves that spunky sparky aim im going for but loving Lucy also.
Perhaps when she's born I will just look at her and know? Does that happen?

Bumblebeesmum · 25/03/2019 17:49

I think Zoe is very dated

Lucy is a lovely classic & is not at all out of place with the Martha’s of the world

Bumblebeesmum · 25/03/2019 17:50

You might like Dulcie as a similar style to Lucy but quite rare?

PinkieTuscadero · 25/03/2019 17:51

Dulcie belongs to a creepy Victorian doll.

MikeUniformMike · 25/03/2019 17:59

I don't like Dulcie at all.

herecome · 25/03/2019 18:25

Not a fan of dulcie, reminds me of Dull or
Dulce de leche

Lobsterquadrille2 · 25/03/2019 18:58

If I'd waited until DD was born, she'd have been ET or Yoda.

FloatingthroughSpace · 25/03/2019 20:06

Zoƫ is gorgeous and a classic. Lucy nice too but a bit "cuter" than Zoe.
