I think we’re down to final 2. (For now)
One is my favourite the other is DH’s. But we do like them both, we may end up putting them into a hat.
Which would you choose?

Connielingus would put me off that.

Madeleine is Madeline McCann to me.

Fedoos · 19/03/2019 14:59

Definitely Madeline. It's a beautiful name, although I also prefer the Madeleine spelling.

Kaboodler · 19/03/2019 15:01

Definitely Madeline.

Kaboodler · 19/03/2019 15:02

I don’t get why the Madeleine McCann connection would ever be an issue. She’s a missing girl, not a murderer.

Baffles me too.

Chinks123 · 19/03/2019 15:06

Connie x 100000. I’m having a boy and can’t use it but it was my choice for a girl.

ilovecheese1 · 19/03/2019 15:36

I think Madeline is winning Smile

The ‘Connielingus’ comment upthread is weird!!😳

I prefer Connie.

PCohle · 19/03/2019 17:41

I prefer Connie.

Madeleine has the immediate McCann association and I think choosing a name with a specific, less common, pronunciation in mind is a path to life long infuriation for you and your DD.

ilovecheese1 · 19/03/2019 17:56

Does anyone have any recommendations of other names we may like based on these? My brain is frazzled.

ilovecheese1 I'm surprised so many people on here associate Madeleine with McCann enough to put them off the name... strange!

For other names how about:
Adeline (Addie for short)
Beatrice
Alice (Allie)
Penelope (Penny)
Laurie
Sophie
Emmeline (Emmy)

pinkrocker · 19/03/2019 18:25

Connie! My beloved Grandma was called Constance Clara Charles and I loved her name! We called her Emma for some reason Smile

houselikeashed · 19/03/2019 18:36

CONNIE!!! My favourite name. Sadly sounds crap with our surname.

Chinks123 · 19/03/2019 18:46

Yes not sure why Connielingus comes to some people’s mind....wouldn’t even think of that Grin

ilovecheese1 · 19/03/2019 18:46

Thanks @ApplestheHare I do really like Adeline! That’s been brought up before.. what would nn be do you think! Ada? Oh no more votes for Connie making it even harder 🙈 I was hoping for a clear winner!

They're both nice but I prefer Madeleine.

As for it reminding people of Madeleine McCann, she is a beautiful little girl, as I'm sure your daughter will be too.

ApplestheHare · 19/03/2019 19:24

ilovecheese1 for Adeline nicknames I reckon there are a few options, though it's not so long you'd need one.

Ada
Addie
Lena
Della
Adele (obviously not short!)

aliceandkids77 · 19/03/2019 20:43

definitely Madeline imo. absolutely gorgeous! x

KingHenrysCodpiece · 19/03/2019 20:44

No to Madeline. Just gives me an instant image of little maddie and the Mccanns. Connie is lovely as is Constance.

Constantine
Evangeline
Emmaline
Adaline
Marilynn/line

Marcipex · 19/03/2019 20:52

Madeleine or Madeline. Classic and beautiful.
I don't always think of Madeleine McCann - I know too many people called it for that.

I dont really like Connie. It has the negative word 'con' as a start .

TacoLover · 19/03/2019 20:54

Madeleine is beautiful. I think Connie is a bit wet tbh and sounds a bit like a nickname. Or a dog breed.

MouseRatFan · 19/03/2019 20:57

Connie is gorgeous.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 19/03/2019 21:03

Madeleine, no question. Constance is nice but I’m not keen on Connie at all.

KathyS901 · 20/03/2019 00:15

Constance is horrible!! But Connie is so cute! I think Madeline/Maddie is a bit common now so while it used to beautiful to me it now seems a little dull x
