Some honest opinions on Rowan (pronounced Row-Uhn) would be great. Do you like it? What do you think of it as a girl’s name?

I love it for a boy or a girl. A rowan tree is a supposed to give protection against evil.

Lovely name for a girl - as others have said the female Rowan in the Antonia Forest books is a great character

My dd Rowan is called Roo for short.

Prefer it for a boy.

Love it

IMO it's one of the very few genuinely unisex names that isn't a short form. I also love it for either sex.

I know an adult Rowan who hates her name and only ever goes by Ro.
She always said she hated having a boys name and everyone always expected her to be male.
It might have become more unisex now though. Personally I prefer it for a boy.

I like it. Always reminds me of the wicker man though which creeps me out but that's probably just me!!
