It’s a lovely name. I’ve always like it, if I had another DS he would be Eric.

neighbourhoodwitch · 10/03/2019 14:23

Absolutely love it!

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 10/03/2019 14:24

I always think of it as a weedy kind of name which is weird because Erik is a hulking great Viking's name.

MillicentMartha · 10/03/2019 14:24

Sorry, not for me. Still an old man’s name and not achieved grandpa chic yet.

SweepTheHalls · 10/03/2019 14:25

Is banana man..

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 10/03/2019 14:26

banana man Grin Maybe that's where my associations with the name come from.

DramaAlpaca · 10/03/2019 14:26

I don't mind it if it's spelled Erik. Then it has a kind of cool Scandi vibe rather than being an old man's name. That last letter makes all the difference to me, but I'm funny about spellings.

Elllicam · 10/03/2019 14:27

I also like cool scandi Erik.

BeGoodTanya · 10/03/2019 14:27

On the upside, it was George Orwell's real name. On the downside (which I fear outweighs Orwell for me), it reminds me of the appalling hero of the Victorian novel Eric, or Little By Little, who turns to Evil and Vice while at boarding school, until he seeks Help From Above. Orwell hated his first name because the association with the novel was still strong when he was young.

BlueMerchant · 10/03/2019 14:30

I don't like it. Personally it reminds me of a middle-aged man. Not a cool one either.
Imagine he has a brother called Keith.

RhubarbAndMustard · 10/03/2019 14:32

I love Eric/Erik. It's my sons middle name and totally named after Bananaman. Grin

iklboo · 10/03/2019 14:34

Eric the half a bee song popped into my mind Smile

chiarazuri · 10/03/2019 14:37

It sounds like an older male with a very serious personality but if you like it, others will learn to like it too!! The person makes the name! :)

LadyRochfordsSpangledGusset · 10/03/2019 14:41

Seems a very unattractive name to me sorry OP. Can't even explain why, just no. And some of my ancestry is Scandinavian so should be all for it in that sense 🤷🏻‍♀️.

onalongsabbatical · 10/03/2019 14:43

One of my fave boy's names.

Oscopies · 10/03/2019 15:00

I really like it. But think it would be a bit daft to use the Erik spelling if you are not of Viking stock.

Justwanttotravel · 10/03/2019 15:01

My golden retriever was called Eric Wink

Beamur · 10/03/2019 15:02

Simon Cowells son called Eric.
Not a fan myself.

Wakk · 10/03/2019 15:05

Eric Shun.

That's what the Eric's I knew at school were called.

SallyWD · 10/03/2019 15:08

I like it. I know a 6 year old Erik

Shadow1234 · 10/03/2019 15:18

I quite like a lot of the 'old man' style names (Ronnie, Archie, Arthur etc.), which have become very popular, but sadly I just can't feel the same way about Eric for some reason.

mogtheexcellent · 10/03/2019 15:20

I love it. I know a toddler Erica. Its unusual without being too unusual.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 10/03/2019 15:24

I quite like Erica for a girl, but Eric seems to lack Erica's spark.

starzig · 10/03/2019 15:39

Sounds like a name for a puppet.

Saffrona · 10/03/2019 15:51

I like it. Reminds me of prince Eric from little mermaid
