Thoughts on our list for baby #2

We found out last week that we’re having another girl. We have these names on our list and was wondering which your favourite was. Big sister is Violet.

Favorite is Eleanor

I think you need a ‘soft’ name to match with violet else you turn violet from a nice name into a harsh name
I don’t think violet and Beatrice go well together therefore for that reason

How about:

Penelope - beautiful

I love your list apart from Eleanor. It reminds me of the Mighty Boosh character!

Your taste seems similar to mine. We have a Matilda and our list for if we have another baby and it’s a girl is:

I would also vote for Beatrice. I think Violet and Bea sound adorable together. Alice is pretty too? But maybe not quite different enough to go with Violet iyswim.

Love Theodora. Penelope and Cecilia are also favourites

Not too keen on Mabel, but all the others are lovely.

My favourite is Cecily, with Theodora in second place.

They're all nice names.

I like Beatrice, Emmeline and Penelope best.

Not keen on Cecily or Cecilia to many 's' sounds. Don't like Beatrix (makes me think of that joke).

Mabel, Matilda and Eleanor are nice, but a bit boring.

All your chosen names are lovely although I'm not a huge fan of Theodora the nn Teddy is lovely if that is what you would use you could also consider Tedra it means precious one.

Love Violet and think Cecilia is lovely and soft against it. Also like Thea is that is an option?

I really wouldn’t get caught up in the name sounding right with Violet, it really is a small portion of their lives that they’ll be known together in one breath and even then it my experience they’ll be ‘the girls’!
Go with what name sounds right for you, what sounds you like saying hundreds of times a day and what has positive connotations. Personally I like Cecilia and Cecily and they’re not too popular. Also love Thea

We have very similar tastes. We have a Beatrice Eleanor and we have had such lovely reactions to her name over the years. Penelope and Emmeline are on our current list. I also love Cécily but my husband isn’t keen. I think all your choices are beautiful
