What are people’s opinions on this name please? Any suggestions on similar names? DH loves it, I’m 50/50 but it’s the only name we’ve agreed on at all so far. Clock is ticking & I’m feeling the pressure!

@Abcdefuck yes she loves it, often gets asked is her name actually constance tho..

She will be 11 in July x

Easterbuns1 · 28/02/2019 21:33

Not til Early September so we've agreed not to properly discuss names until we've narrowed it down to disagreeing about one sex!

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 28/02/2019 21:34

Connie Jean is a great name. Love it.

babysharkah · 28/02/2019 21:37

I work with a Constance - she never goes by Connie and she's quite young. I really like it.

Bearberry · 28/02/2019 21:45

I love the name Constance. It was top of my imaginary baby name list for years until I realised it would inevitably be shortened constantly to Connie, which I’m much less fond of.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/02/2019 21:51

Constance is lovely but I don’t care for Connie.

NashvilleQueen · 28/02/2019 21:57

As long as your surname isn’t Lingus go for it.

LightDrizzle · 28/02/2019 21:58

I’ve got one so I’m utterly biased!
She went by Constance until she was about 8, had a spell as Coco at school, then elected for Connie, which she has kept into adulthood. Her preference.
She gets very positive comments on her name.
I still love it. I find Constance a strong but attractive name, and Connie a very friendly name.
My DD2 is a very friendly and sociable person so it suits.

nombrecambio · 28/02/2019 22:01

Love it.

Tavannach · 28/02/2019 22:03

Had a relative called Constance, NEVER Connie.
I like it. Elegant without being frilly.

Abcdefuck · 28/02/2019 22:13

Thank you all FlowersFlowersFlowers I was expecting to be put off it but you might be selling it to me. PP with a daughter named Constance who was called coco for a while - my sister has a friend named Co & I always thought it was quite cool Blush so maybe we’ll start that trend! She’d still have lots of room to change if she wanted!

Really like it! One of those names that you forget you know, then you hear it again and realise how lovely it is. Feels almost “traditional with a modern twist”. I say go for it!

junebirthdaygirl · 01/03/2019 02:16

One of my favourites..either version...just love it.

MumUnderTheMoon · 04/03/2019 09:32

I love Constance but I'm a fan of virtue names, also Temperance, Prudence, Clemency, Blithe, Dharma, Felicity

stellarfox · 04/03/2019 13:54

I love Constance and so does my partner but I’m not as keen on Connie! It can sound quite different depending on where you’re from (e.g. in my partners family’s accent!) We might end up using it though. I think it’s quite vintage and heard of but not very popular. I also really like Cordelia, Emmeline and Penelope!

Disfordarkchocolate · 04/03/2019 13:55

I love Constance, I knew one and her name wasn't shortened at all.

Hangingtrousers · 05/03/2019 05:32

Constance is on our list because dh loves it .. I'm not so sure. Reading this thread has helped though. I picked dd1 and 2 name so he feels he should pick dc3 name. Eek!

SadieContrary · 05/03/2019 05:43

I have a Constance/Connie and she goes by both names. She also gets CC as our surname begins with C.

SeaweedDress · 05/03/2019 05:43

I know two Constances, fortysomething and tween, in two different countries, and both are always known as Constance, never Connie. I love it.

user1474894224 · 05/03/2019 05:52

My Nanny was a Constance. Often called Connie or Con. But for the last 45 years known as Nanny by all. She passed away last year at 95. It's definitely becoming more popular again. I love older names.

HeronLanyon · 05/03/2019 06:21

Connie is one of my all time favourite names. Not so fond of Constance. Connie does not seem ‘young’ for an adult woman to me but I have known 2 (as adults only) so don’t see it as a child’s diminutive at all.

StellaRae · 05/03/2019 13:24

Fab name - love Constance and Connie.

HeronLanyon · 05/03/2019 18:51

stella that is also a secret favourite of mine. Not sure why secret. Have never known a Stella - perhaps that’s why.

HotpotLawyer · 05/03/2019 20:28

I like Constance and Connie and if it was my name I might go wild and use Stan as a nn!

pilates · 05/03/2019 20:48

Love it💕
