Hello, my husband and I have picked the name Winter for our baby girl. I know it may not be everyone's style but we've fell in love with it. We can not find a middle name that we love with it and would really appreciate some help. Our last name is Mac Laughlin. We also do not want names that are too common like Emma, Olivia, Abigail, Charlotte, Isabella ect.. they are beautiful but not for us. Thank you for your help

Love Winter Rose and the suggested Winter Joy.

It’s such an unusual name I quite like the idea of a long classic for a middle name - gives lots of options for them as an adult. Ones that sound nice to me:
Winter Elizabeth
Winter Susannah
Winter Dorothy

Wasn't there are thread about unusual names a while back, and someone mentioned Antimony (an-TIM-on-ee)?

Winter Antimony...

Winter Blu MAC Laughlin

I always loved the name Blu pronounced "blue"

I always said I'd name my first girl Blu since bright blue eyes run in the family

OK, so I know this has nothing to do with your question but - your DP is called Matteo McLaughlin? How did that come about? Or is DD taking your last name?

For me, with a slightly unusual first name you are generally better off with a more classic middle name. Rebecca, Lucy, Elizabeth or Louisa for example.

RayaJambalaya · 25/02/2019 23:45

@CoffeeRunner

Maybe his parents either liked the name or he has an Italian mother or something. I wouldn't assume the child is just taking her name. It's not really relevant or anyone's business.

Also I think classic names look out of place with the more 'unusual' names.

Winter Aeris MacLaughlin.
Isolde

I love Winter Grace Mac laughlin lineeyes
I would be wary of going with a plant name though, they sound like a seed catalogue.

olivesarelife · 26/02/2019 00:08

Winter faye

Pieceofpurplesky · 26/02/2019 00:32

Winter Rose is beautiful. I agree with a PP it needs to be one syllable to work with your surname.

Winter Sage
Winter Belle
Winter Pearl

Drivenmad80 · 26/02/2019 02:20

Winter Grace
Winter Robyn
Winter Blossom
Winter Clara

OpiesOldLady · 26/02/2019 02:24

I have a Wynter May.

Prettyvase · 26/02/2019 03:55

Single syllable names go best and I think it's particularly beautiful paired with these suggestions:

Winter Rose
Winter Grace
Winter Eve
Winter Mace
Winter Laine
Winter Bay
Winter Leigh
Winter Brooke
Winter Tarn
Winter Noor ( light)
Winter Jay/ne/dear
Winter Elle
Winter Ferne
Winter Rue
Winter Raine

For 2 syllables you could pair it with:

Nikki ( Japanese for 2 trees)
Laurel
Arden (forest)
Clary
Ivy
Sorrell
Mielle
Dana
Leila
Willow
Heather/ Hazel
Hana (Japanese for flower)
Lanie
Phoebe/ Phyllis
Mila
Mikki ( trees)

All evoke serenity and peace as are nature inspired.

Prettyvase · 26/02/2019 03:56

Whoops: typo should read Jade*

lottielady · 26/02/2019 03:59

I also like Winter Merryn.

mathanxiety · 26/02/2019 05:20

I think it needs a long or otherworldly middle name.

Winter Estelle
Winter Aurelia
Winter Aurora
Winter Alicia
Winter Alouette
Winter Angelica
Winter Rowena
Winter Juliet
Winter Seraphina
Winter Eirene
Winter Jasmine
Winter Maris
Winter Aerin
Winter Celestina/ Celestine
