Over dinner OH came up with the perfect name. It's a variation of a much loved departed relative, has a silent h which my other 2 have and I've fallen for it massively. Who said men were useless?! I'm thinking our dd will be Dinah Elizabeth. Like?

At last a nice name that’s not too common or off beat.
Sounds great, don’t let anyone put you off it OP. Great both you and DH like it, too.

CloserIAm2Fine · 23/02/2019 13:41

It’s lovely!

It made me think of the girl in Demon Headmaster which is not a bad association at all, and is probably very particular to my generation son or one your DDs peers would make at all

Looks like a misspelling to me if I’m honest, and too much like dinner. I’m unsure on pronunciation but Deena spelling is ok.

Nice classic biblical name - it's a good match to your other DC names. The biblical character didn't have a happy time of it, but then they often didn't. I think of the character in The Red Tent, based on her.

If you are pronouncing it the same as Nina, I love it.
If you are pronouncing it like diner, then I dont love it.

So true!

Wow thanks for the replies. It's pronounced Dye nah. A PP mentioned the railroad song which is funny because DH said this morning that both out girls will have names which have songs with banjos in them ha ha. For those asking, my other children are Joseph and Susannah. I'm hoping she won't be Dinah the Terrible but going on other dds form... 😖😂

It’s lovely and goes very well with Joseph and Susannah. Dinah is so underused.

mathanxiety · 24/02/2019 02:45

Grin @ the banjo connection. Very funny.

stellarfox · 24/02/2019 05:56

The only Dinah I know is pronounced dee-nah. It’s a nice name!

stellarfox · 24/02/2019 05:58

P.s. I think this might be the original pronunciation from the bible. There’s a Dinah in the red tent which is a good book!
