We really love the name Summer. It seems a really happy and friendly name. It’s also a family name on my husband’s side (he’s not British and where he’s from it’s not as unusual as here, although we have no plans to move there).
My only reservation is that our baby is due imminently so clearly won’t be a summer baby! I don’t mind this, and kind of like that we have chosen the name simply because we love it rather than to also correspond to when she’ll be born IYSWIM, although I also understand that approach may seem more sensible!
Those of you with a Summer in the family, does it get wearing being asked if your Summer was born then? I imagine it’ll get extra tiring when I respond “er, nope”
Not sure I k am over thinking this!
The other thing was just generally what do people think of the name? It is more unusual than I’d ordinarily like, but I am very drawn to it. I think my concern is that my own parents will absolutely hate it (and they’re not the type to pretend otherwise) but I need to get over that! I smile whenever I say it so it is a name I really do like
Btw, I’m not worried about the whole “she can’t be a high court judge if she’s called Summer” stuff. My name isn’t the best (80’s doll whose rival had a boyfriend called Ken) and despite the acknowledged lack of gravitas, I still managed to qualify into my chosen profession
