We really love the name Summer. It seems a really happy and friendly name. It’s also a family name on my husband’s side (he’s not British and where he’s from it’s not as unusual as here, although we have no plans to move there).

My only reservation is that our baby is due imminently so clearly won’t be a summer baby! I don’t mind this, and kind of like that we have chosen the name simply because we love it rather than to also correspond to when she’ll be born IYSWIM, although I also understand that approach may seem more sensible!

Those of you with a Summer in the family, does it get wearing being asked if your Summer was born then? I imagine it’ll get extra tiring when I respond “er, nope” Grin
Not sure I k am over thinking this!

The other thing was just generally what do people think of the name? It is more unusual than I’d ordinarily like, but I am very drawn to it. I think my concern is that my own parents will absolutely hate it (and they’re not the type to pretend otherwise) but I need to get over that! I smile whenever I say it so it is a name I really do like Smile

Btw, I’m not worried about the whole “she can’t be a high court judge if she’s called Summer” stuff. My name isn’t the best (80’s doll whose rival had a boyfriend called Ken) and despite the acknowledged lack of gravitas, I still managed to qualify into my chosen profession Wink

Once she turned one it seemed to ease off. I was dubious about giving her a month name but DH loved it but interestingly noone has ever asked him. I remember some woman at a toddler group asking and when I said she wasn't born in that month she laughed and said oh that's a weird choice then. We do get a lot of friends and family forgetting her birthday thinking it's in that month

Are you happy you chose the name? (Hope it’s ok to ask that). A year of questions sounds v annoying (especially when your DH was never asked! Also, I’m not sure why people need to comment (and laugh!) like the woman in toddler group, but it’s good to know that it does ease off (eventually! Smile)

Sorry, big time brackets fail there!

Hi all, My husband and I are struggling with naming our new little baby girl (5 days old). We like Celeste and Summer. What’s your thoughts on these names? We would have the favourite as first name and the other as middle name. So, either ‘Celeste Summer’ or ‘Summer Celeste’. Any thoughts really welcome. Any warnings about why these names might not work. Also, any nicknames for either one as I’d like to use a cute nickname but can’t think of any for these names. Thank you for your thoughts!
