I’m writing a project for my creative writing club. I want to give one of the characters (female) a very OTT American name. Her brothers are called Boston and Becket!

Suggestions please! The crazier the better!

Many of the names suggested on the thread are either very dated or very unsubtle caricatures. There are a few exceptions.

I'm American. Super common names are Emily, Jennifer, Ashley, Lindsay, Melissa, Kristen, Lauren, Sarah, Jessica.

I dont know what OTT stands for? "Trashy" names that come to mind are Mercedes, Amber, Crystal, Destiny, Nevaeh.

As an American, I think there is a lot of stereotyping happening here! There are not really specific styles in different areas of the US! For the most part we have very normal names! On occasion you meet someone with a wild name but that is not the norm!

mathanxiety · 22/02/2019 06:38

OTT is 'over the top'.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 22/02/2019 15:20

Oh got it! I think celebrities and reality stars make us look bad. All the Kardashian kids names: North. Chicago, Stormy, True, Dream.

Then there's always Apple, Moxie, Denim, Moon.

But again I feel like it isnt the norm to actually meet anyone with these names! I guess some people think they are being creative when on reality they just make it hard on their kids!!
