Girls names are lovely, how about Lydia too?

Only like Samuel in the boys - the other two don't sound at all attractive to me. Benjamin?

Gazelda · 29/01/2019 09:19

I'm a bit meh about Imogen, but really like all of the others.

Astronica · 29/01/2019 09:22

Imogen - gorgeous, my clear favourite.
Emilia - smart and stylish, but there are so many of similar names, Amelia (pronounced the same), Emily, Amelie..
Eva - again, smart and stylish, and the best of all the 'Eve' names I think, however there are so many of them popular ATM - Evie, Eve, Evelyn, Evangeline ...

Louie - my favourite of your boy names though I don't love it. Louis with same pronunciation is much better
Elliot - okay
Samuel - okay, I like Sam.

JustAnotherMillennial · 29/01/2019 09:23

I love all three of your boys names! My DS1 (7) is called Elliott, loved that name for a long time - does not date, classic but not popular, although spelling is an issue. DS1 has two Ts because that's how it was spelt on my granddad's middle name.

DS2's middle name is Samuel. Also a really nice name, not as popular as it use to be imo.

Really like Louie too, ime your less likely to get pronunciation issues that way. I know a few Louis's that are pronounced Lew-is.

Imogen is fabulous (was on my shortlist), not popular but a classic and Immy is a nice nickname.

I like Emilia (I much prefer this to Amelia). I use to like Eva years ago when it was uncommon but the popularity has put me off.

Jaz32 · 29/01/2019 09:54

Love your girls choices they were all among names I considered too. Imogen is my favourite of the 3!
Of the boys I like Samuel best, Elliott and Louie are ok tho. Like Benjamin as someone else suggested.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 29/01/2019 09:57

Louie in that spelling is the same as King Louie (although he's a pretty cool character anyway, oo-bee-do!)

Imogen always sounds a bit pretentious, especially if you call her "Immy"

MamaToBe2019x · 29/01/2019 10:30

Thanks all! I love Samuel but I hate it shortened to Sam, which is why its bottom of my list as it's almost guaranteed to happen. I love Louie and do agree it's more classic spelt Louis but I know a few who spell it that way and are called Lewis so to avoid confusion I thought Louie prevents that and is still a name in its own right. My only worry is whether it would age well?

Same problem with Imogen as Samuel, it's my favourite on the list but I don't like any of the shortenings. Eva was my chosen name for years but it has just become far too common which is annoying.

Thanks for new suggestions but my brother is called Benjamin, I also need to make the list shorter and not longer!! It's such a hard decision.

I don't like any girls names, but for boys I like Louie and Elliot.

Outside of France Louie is a much better spelling as most languages will pronounce the s in Louis (Lou-is). I think Louie was more popular than Louis last year.

Shadow1234 · 29/01/2019 10:58

Elliot and Louis are lovely
I also really like Imogen, but get that you dont like the nn's
Dont mind Emilia or Eva, but have become a bit too overused now

OutPinked · 29/01/2019 11:02

I like Amelia, not fond of your spelling. Always liked Ava but sadly fairly common. Not a huge fan of Imogen.

Samuel is strong and timeless. Louis is a preferable spelling but I do like it. Not a huge fan of Elliot.

MikeUniformMike · 29/01/2019 11:05

Imogen - not keen because i don't like Immy
Emilia - Lovely but there are so many Emilias, Emilys, Amelias and Amelies.
Eva - don't like it. So many Evas, Eves, Evies, Edies and Avas around.

Louie - no. Louis is ok
Elliot - not keen
Samuel - great

KiplingAngelCake · 29/01/2019 11:48

Girls names - love all of them, but Eva has the edge for me. Elegant, simple and classic.
Boys - Samuel or Louis (not keen on Louie spelling, sorry).

helpmum2003 · 29/01/2019 11:51

Love the girls names!

Boys - Louie is my favourite but I do like the other 2 also. I really like traditional spelling of Louis but I understand the pronunciation issues....

helpmum2003 · 29/01/2019 11:54

Louis ages fine I think.

Butterfly84 · 29/01/2019 11:56

Eva and Elliot are by far the best from your lists.

Imogen is very wet fish.
Emilias are everywhere and it's just so boring.

Louis spelt like this is okay.
And Samuel is also wet and stuck in the 90s.

padfootprongs · 29/01/2019 13:34

I like all those names!

Louie is my favorite from the boys (but much much prefer Louis spelling) then Samuel, then Elliot.

Girls, Eva is probably my favorite.

flumpybear · 29/01/2019 13:36

Imogen and Elliot - lovely choices all round though

MollyHuaCha · 29/01/2019 13:42

Imogen - love it
Emilia - nice
Eva - I like it and would pronounce it 'Ay-va'

Louie - love it, but only when spelt Louis and pronounced Lou-ie
Elliot - no
Samuel - lovely

tammytoby · 29/01/2019 14:29

Louie - love it, but only when spelt Louis and pronounced Lou-ie

But why not spell it how you like it pronounced?Grin

lilyblue5 · 29/01/2019 15:00

Eva and Elliot for me

padfootprongs · 29/01/2019 15:03

@tammytoby

Lou-ee is the pronunciation for Louis...

It's like saying why not spell

Isla - eyela
Phoebe - Febee
Beau - Bow

Etc etc

starkid · 29/01/2019 15:15

I actually like all of them! Favourites are Imogen, Elliot and Samuel Smile Congrats!

MamaToBe2019x · 29/01/2019 15:25

@padfootprongs I get your point but Louie has been used as a name in certain areas, and is a name in its own right whereas Eyela or Feebee is just gibberish!

Thanks for all the feedback!

@MamaToBe2019x

Totally get why you would use Louie, and it is a popular spelling now. My point was aimed at Tammy who was questioning why you would spell it Louis! We don't spell other names phonetically, and 'Louie' probably was once gibberish too!
