... will people secretly be thinking 'Oscars a dogs name'?

No.

Fraula · 24/01/2019 19:41

No, it's fairly popular at the moment. Lovely name!

Wolfiefan · 24/01/2019 19:41

I like it.

Hoppinggreen · 24/01/2019 19:42

I have a son called oscar, I named him after my first dog

ZebraKid71 · 24/01/2019 19:44

I doubt it. I know lots of little Oscars at the moment and I've never thought that.

PoutySprout · 24/01/2019 19:45

It’s my car’s name.

Disfordarkchocolate · 24/01/2019 19:46

Would not cross my mind, it's lovely name. I think of Oscar Blaketon but that's a reference for someone your nan's age only.

explodingkitten · 24/01/2019 19:47

I know a boy named Oscar, love love love the name

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/01/2019 19:48

No.

Villainess · 24/01/2019 20:03

These days people seem to give their dogs whatever 'human' names are popular. So I'm sure there are plenty of dogs called Oscar, but there are also loads called Jake, Max, Daisy etc etc. just as there are loads of little kids with these names.

So what I'm saying is, 'no' Grin

daisypond · 24/01/2019 20:04

No.

No

CountFosco · 24/01/2019 20:22

I'd think 'Wilde'. Perfectly acceptable name for a human. I judge people who give pets children's names.

Happilyacceptingcookies · 24/01/2019 20:23

No. The only thing that put us off was Oscar Pistorious as it was around that time that we were choosing names and he was in the news.

Charley50 · 24/01/2019 20:25

Haha! I used to think Oscar was a dog's name. But I actually really like it as a human name these days.

movraxrax · 24/01/2019 20:26

I’d just think he was wild.

JassyRadlett · 24/01/2019 20:27

Is there a particular link between Oscar and dogs? I’ve never had that association.

Parthenope · 24/01/2019 20:28

No, classic Irish name from the Fenian cycle.

Jamhandprints · 24/01/2019 20:29

Very common human name!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/01/2019 20:29

Not at all - it's such a popular name now.

Some of us might think of Oscar The Grouch, but that mainly reflects our age (40 plus).

Zoflorabore · 24/01/2019 20:31

I love it!
My ds is 16 and called Oliver. I had another baby in 2011 and if it were a boy he would have been Oscar.
Dd is almost 8 and her most prized possession is a plush crocodile called Oscar ( i may have influenced the name 😊 ) and I still love it.

Smile19 · 24/01/2019 20:34

Our dog is Oscar, but all our animals have 'human' names. So yes it makes me thing dog...but MY dog, not dog name. Go for it OP. Love the name.

SoyDora · 24/01/2019 20:35

No... they’ll probably just think ‘oh, another Oscar’. Loads of them around at the moment!

namechangedtoday15 · 24/01/2019 20:36

No but it's very popular at the moment - I know of about 6!
