Welsh girls names

I'm expecting #2 in a few months and struggling for girls names. We have a little boy with a common Welsh name. DP likes Ffion but I'm not entirely sold, not sure why. Can't use Carys, Seren, Anwen or Bethan.

Any suggestions? Thank you :)

How about:

Idelle
Iola
Lowri
Rhiannon (my cousin’s name Grin)
Rowena

Good luck!

Cadi
Mali
Mari
Gwenllian (or Gwen)
Eleri (but not if you're somewhere that can't pronounce the E sound properly)

Ffion is a lovely name, it's not the Welsh version of Fiona. It's Welsh for foxglove so a flower name. It's pretty easy to pronounce for anyone too.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/01/2019 10:28

Nesta. Lowri. Eleri. Meriel. Rhiannon
Megan. Sian. Gwen. Nia. Catrin.

Ceirios - means cherries - no
Meredith - boy's name in Wales.
Hafren - Hafwen is nicer
Lynette/ Linette. - not welsh
Rowena - not welsh
Meghan - not welsh
Crystyn - GrinGrinGrin
Idelle - not welsh
Una- not welsh
Vala - not welsh
Aulwen - it's Aelwen

Some of the names might be used or have been used in Wales but they are not welsh.
Saffir seems a bit weird.
Some of the names seem dated - a bit Sharon or Debbie.
Ffion is lovely and as pp said, it's not Welsh for Fiona.

Are you a welsh-speaker OP, and do you live in a welsh-speaking part of Wales?

CloserIAm2Fine · 11/01/2019 19:14

Nia
Megan
Sian
Catrin
Lowri
Elin

missmouse101 · 11/01/2019 19:17

Teleri? I love Lowri though.

WoodBurnerBabe · 11/01/2019 19:23

Eira - means snow.

MikeUniformMike · 11/01/2019 19:53

I asked if you were in a welsh speaking environment because some names don't really work otherwise.
I really like Buddug, Dyddgu, Lleucu, Llio, Elliw, Leusa, and Mallt, but could be too difficult for friends and family if they're not Welsh.
Mabli and Nest (welsh for Agnes) are nice, as is Mair.
Non is nice. Elin, Betsan, Manon, Heledd, Marged, Mared, Mererid, Gwenno, Gaenor, Luned/Eluned, Branwen...
There are loads of threads on welsh names. Be careful if you are relying on name sites or here - there are some dodgy suggestions.

MikeUniformMike · 11/01/2019 20:13

Eos, Meinir (never met a nice one but it's a pretty name), Haf, Alwen, Llinos, Gwylan, Gwenhwyfar, ...

missmouse101 · 11/01/2019 22:10

Tesni, Mali.
