Henry, Seth or Otis?

Please help - which of the 3 would you pick? And why? Or why not the others?

I’m driving myself mad!

Thanks!

I have a Seth and I love it. We didn't know anyone with the same name when we named our Seth but there are several at his school including one in his class.

Agree with another poster though it probably is a marmite name but the only person who I know hated it was DM who has pointedly never commented on it, but loads of other people told us they loved it.

Blondieblond · 10/01/2019 13:52

Otis - its the coolest of the three

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 10/01/2019 13:53

Henry

The others are too trendy

Ballbags · 10/01/2019 13:54

Seth was my boy's name of choice (13 years ago though).

Ember12 · 10/01/2019 13:55

Seth! Love it and have one Grin

HowDidYouDo · 10/01/2019 14:10

My only issue with Seth is people who say Sef not Seth.

Henry

LionsHeart · 10/01/2019 14:18

Love Otis, will always remind me of Otis Redding & Dock of the Bay... (can you imagine yourself singing him to sleep with that song?)

Otis Henry?

Peachesandcream30 · 10/01/2019 14:22

Seth is cool! Henry is nice but I'm so bored of it as it's just so popular. Not Otis

DramaAlpaca · 10/01/2019 14:22

Henry by a mile.

I detest Seth, I think it's lispy and snakey (apologies to those of you who have one!)

Otis is OK, but not really my thing. I think of lifts and aardvarks.

OP, your post above suggests you really love Otis. And the most important thing is that you go for a name you love.

Updownleftrightstart · 10/01/2019 14:39

I love Seth!

Henry is ok.

Otis just reminds me of Otex eardrops and wax-filled ears.

Tobykins · 10/01/2019 14:43

Henry

comebacksoonsusan · 10/01/2019 14:46

Otis

Henry is dull.

HowDidYouDo · 10/01/2019 14:52

But I love each of them.

They each have different things that I love. DH’s favourite is Henry - he’s a fan of the classics.

If I had to pick a favourite it would be Otis, but I wouldn’t be devastated if I couldn’t use it. If that makes sense?

Henry is so dull... there are just too many out there already.

Seth sounds strange and will be unpronounceable to non English speakers.

Otis is the best option!!

Ipanema01 · 10/01/2019 15:16

Otis is my front runner :)
I just think its cool, not weird or out there but uncommon.

My best friend has a Henry and he is gorgeous but I prefer something a bit more unheard of.

Seth is wishy washy to me, sorry!

TatianaLarina · 10/01/2019 15:22

Seth is something nasty in the woodshed. He’s also the Egyptian god of violence and chaos.

So Henry or Otis.

RiverTam · 10/01/2019 15:31

didn't Seth go on to become a film star? If we're talking I Capture the Castle?

PinkAvocado · 10/01/2019 15:33

Love Henry and Otis.

Seth is one of my least liked names along with Arthur. Miserable sounding names.

IWannaBeYourFordCortina · 10/01/2019 15:33

Otis. It was the name I wanted for DS but DP vetoed it

TatianaLarina · 10/01/2019 15:34

Cold Comfort Farm?

Babdoc · 10/01/2019 15:35

Seth was the farm hunk in Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons, and yes, I think he did end up being a film star. Adam and Eve’s third son in the Bible was called Seth too.

RiverTam · 10/01/2019 15:36

that's the one, always get those two muddled up.

I'm pretty sure most people would see Seth as being an Old Testament name (wasn't his brother or father called Amos? In CCF, I mean? Became a full blooded preacher or something.)

Smile19 · 10/01/2019 15:36

Seth (could be short for Joseph if you like)

RiverTam · 10/01/2019 15:41

it really couldn't.
