Henry, Seth or Otis?

Please help - which of the 3 would you pick? And why? Or why not the others?

I’m driving myself mad!

Thanks!

Seth short for Joseph Confused?!

DitzyPrints · 10/01/2019 16:00

Henry by a million miles - lovely classic strong name

Saharafordessert · 10/01/2019 16:02

Not Seth, he will always be Sef and that sounds awful
Otis is great!

BagelDog · 10/01/2019 16:05

I love Seth!
Otis is cool. Henry is boring. There are four in one of my son’s rugby groups a and five in the other.... the only thing there are more of is George’s.

abcriskringle · 10/01/2019 16:15

Otis! Love it.
Henry is nice too but extremely popular.
Seth was actually on our shortlist for DS but I always feel like it needs a longer version. Feels kind of nickname-y to me although I do like it.

Smile19 · 10/01/2019 16:21

I know someone who shortens Joseph to Seth / Seph(?) Works for them. Although Seth is of course a name in its own right :)

Good luck OP. All lovely names. Can't go wrong.

HowDidYouDo · 10/01/2019 17:01

I wonder where Henry is so popular? In my area it seems to be Teddy, Archie, Alfie, Freddie and Noah that are very popular.

It’s funny how it works! All opinions are very helpful.

Know a little boy called Otis - love it. My choice for next baby if we have a boy

Peachbubble · 10/01/2019 17:14

Henry, as not keen on the other two. I only know 2 Henrys.

LowbrowVictoriana · 10/01/2019 17:39

It's an Otis from me!

Seth is a bit meh, and Henry bloody dull.

MollyHuaCha · 10/01/2019 17:45

Henry

YouSetTheTone · 10/01/2019 20:21

They’re all nice names in different ways but my favourite is Otis. I think it works well on a boy as well as an adult (actually they all do tbf..) and is just that bit more unusual.
Which (in brutal honesty) goes best with your surname? I had a front runner for a long time and then realised that although the long form went well with my surname the shortening really didn’t- and could imagine at school he’d be known as the ‘nn surname’ rather than ‘long name surname’.
Also- just see which one you think feels the most ‘right’ once he’s here!

barkinatthemoon · 10/01/2019 20:28

Hmmmm, well dd1 is 4 and since having her I think we've met at least 20 Henry's (not exaggerating!) but it is a nice name hence why it's popular!
Not keen on Otis, reminds me of that puppet (aardvark?!) that used to be on kids t.v!
Which means Seth is probably my favourite, as I'd never go for a popular name. It's a cool, quirky name and I don't think your bump into another one everyday. If you wanted something similar with a longer useable version have you considered Sebastian/Seb? This is one of my all time faves, but we wasted it on the cat 😂

Lemonfizzle · 11/01/2019 10:07

My cat is called Otis but my cousin is called Otto, which I think is fabulous !

madmum5811 · 11/01/2019 12:21

I spoke to a little Henry yesterday four years old. There are three of them in his class. Poor teachers.

KirstyT11 · 11/01/2019 13:34

Love them all. But I do think Henry is very popular. They are all on my list too. I like Seth and Otis over Henry. X

HowDidYouDo · 11/01/2019 14:55

Well a spanner has been thrown in the works as we have just found out someone close to us is planning on using Henry - we will no longer use it.

DH has now thrown Alexander and Liam into the mix too.

Oh and as for surname. It’s very generic and the kind there isn’t an issue with any of the names?

CocoLoco87 · 11/01/2019 15:02

Definitely Otis. Love it! Alexander would be my second choice.

SinkGirl · 11/01/2019 15:04

I can’t imagine a baby Otis.

We went for quite traditional names and none of my friends have boys with the same names - plenty of duplicates of Reuben, Noah and Freddie though.

Grannyannex · 11/01/2019 15:05

Seth. Otis. Yes.

Henry. Boring

KiplingAngelCake · 11/01/2019 15:07

Vote for Otis!
Henry also good, but really don't like Seth sorry.

KiplingAngelCake · 11/01/2019 15:07

Just seen update. Alexander = fab and is my favourite.

tammytoby · 11/01/2019 15:20

Otis! Cool, classic and not overused.

Alex(ander) is quite common and a little dull.

Icklepup · 11/01/2019 15:41

Definitely Otis then!!
