Baby girl shortlist... the final three

TheCag · 09/01/2019 14:08

Our baby girl has arrived and we’ve finally narrowed our shortlist to three names:
Penelope
Beatrix
Catherine

Dh loves Penelope but our surname also starts with P and I feel it’s got potential for bullying/teasing issues in the future so I’m hesitant about the name.

Our other dc have slightly less popular/alternative names so Beatrix fits with them. We love Catherine too though and I suppose it’s our ‘safe’ option.

Help me choose!!

Beatrix every time for me.
Beatrix Catherine P..... sounds good to me?

SleepWarrior · 09/01/2019 14:14

PP initials would put me off, although Penelope is lovely.

I'd go for Catherine I think.

huuskymam · 09/01/2019 14:17

Penelope is a beautiful name.

HalfBloodPrincess · 09/01/2019 14:18

I love alliterative names - all the superheroes have them! so I’d go with Penelope.

Hellothere0 · 09/01/2019 14:20

As long as your surnames not potter I’d go with Beatrix, it’s beautiful

Phebes · 09/01/2019 14:22

I love Beatrix. Congratulations Flowers

sproutsinmystocking · 09/01/2019 14:22

Penelope is really popular at the moment. If that's a factor

canibehereifimnotamum · 09/01/2019 14:23

Beatrix is lovely!

Sophronia · 09/01/2019 14:40

Catherine, definitely.

user1498549192 · 09/01/2019 14:49

Catherine; beautiful, timeless and elegant.

MikeUniformMike · 09/01/2019 15:56

Depends on the surname.
Would you shorten the name?
Just to pick a random P surname I'll use Potter.
Penelope Potter, Penny Potter
Catherine Potter, Cathy Potter, Kate Potter
Beatrix Potter, Beatie Potter, Trixie Potter

I didn't think hard enough.

abcriskringle · 09/01/2019 15:57

Penelope!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 09/01/2019 16:03

I like penny which is a nn for Penelope

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/01/2019 16:23

Catherine is gorgeous. Beatrix is just about okay. Not a fan at all of Penelope.
CongratulationsFlowers

TheCag · 09/01/2019 16:29

Lol @mikeuniformike thankfully it’s not Potter! More along the lines of Peterson.

@halfbloodprincess dh wants an alliterative name for that very reason!

Penelope is lovely!
I started to like this name after watching the purge series oddly..

I also really like Beatrix..

GRW · 09/01/2019 16:51

Catherine is much nicer than the others.

MikeUniformMike · 09/01/2019 17:31

I picked Potter without remembering that Beatrix was on your list. If it was Potter then Harriet would be the obvious one.
I don't get the love for Penelope. It's ok. I think I know at least 4 adult ones. Do you like any other P names - Pippa, Perdita, Pandora, Polly, Posy, Pandia, Prue, Pamela...
Beatrix makes me thing Beer Tricks.

SuperstarDJ · 09/01/2019 17:33

Penelope is my favourite. I like alliterative names unless it’s completely comical sounding. I also love Beatrix but I know a few young ones called that so it seems quite popular along with Beatrice but not overly so.

Catherine is a bit too classical and blah for my taste.

pilates · 09/01/2019 17:39

Beatrix or Catherine, not keen on Penelope

WildCherryBlossom · 09/01/2019 17:44

I like Penelope best and really like alliterative names. There has to be a reason why so many actors choose alliteration: Marilyn Monroe, Helen Hunt, Holly Hunter, Brigitte Bardot, Doris Day....

coffeekittens · 09/01/2019 17:48

I absolutely love Penelope it’s a gorgeous name, would have used it for this baby but its my cats name. Different name but I know a Phoebe P surname and it flows, no teasing.

lanbro · 09/01/2019 17:51

Definitely Beatrix, I know a baby beatrix and she's gorgeous! Catherine, nickname Cate (can't bear Katie, sorry), do not like Penelope at all, can't put my finger on why!

yikesanotherbooboo · 09/01/2019 18:16

3 of my favourites.
I would probably go for Catherine but love them all.

VictoriaBun · 09/01/2019 18:19

Like them all but wouldn't have a P.P.
