We have come up with two names we like for a little boy, I don't care if you guys are harsh i just want to hear opinions.
The name would be either Marlow Thomas or Marshall William, the middle names are family names.

I prefer Marlow :)

LEMtheoriginal · 22/12/2018 06:14

Marshall makes me think of Eminem. Saying that i like the name. It would get shortened to marsh though and im less keen on that.

Marlow makes me think of a private detective. But again i like the name.

Marlow just wins because of the marsh diminutive.

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 22/12/2018 06:16

Is Marshall one of the Paw Patrol characters?

I personally prefer your middle names as not keen on surname/place type names (used to live near Marlow.)

RedDwarves · 22/12/2018 06:17

Marlow.

I'm just not a fan of Marshall. I agree with the above poster that it immediately reminds me of Eminem.

What about Miles? It has a similar vibe.

CallMeRachel · 22/12/2018 06:21

Go for a blend of both...

Marshmallow!!!

Xmas GrinXmas Wink

Sorry I'm in a silly mode. Both are lovely names though I slightly prefer Marshall I think.

Mondaytired · 22/12/2018 06:25

Marshall reminds me of paw patrol and marlow makes me think of Harlow..I prefer the other way around so Thomas Marlow....
Or William Marshall.

ForgotTheBastardElfAgain · 22/12/2018 06:25

Marshall is a paw patrol dog. I’m not a fan of Marlow as a first either I’m a afraid. They do both lead me to marshmallow too

noitsachicken · 22/12/2018 06:27

I prefer Marshall as a name, but my son has a Chase in his class and gets lots of Paw Patrol comments, I expect Marshall would get the same

Dimsumlosesum · 22/12/2018 06:30

Marshall is the name of a popular dog kids character, it reminds me of that (Paw Patrol). Marlow kind of sounds like a pet dogs name.

icklekid · 22/12/2018 06:32

I agree Thomas Marlow is much better but I also lived in Marlow so that probably makes me unlikely to like it as a name. Marshall is nice name too and paw patrol link wouldn't bother me

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 22/12/2018 06:33

I have no idea what pawpatrol is, but I agree with Monday.

cheesymashandbeans · 22/12/2018 06:35

I know a Marshall and he's a great guy so i like that name. Marlow sounds a bit wet to me.

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 22/12/2018 06:36

Yep they work well as middle names.

trinity0097 · 22/12/2018 06:42

To me Marshall and Marlow are both surnames not first names.

allwalkedout · 22/12/2018 06:45

Better as middle names.
I jumped to marshmallow too Grin

blackteaplease · 22/12/2018 06:52

I like both, I know a Marshall who is the sweetest little boy. Sure it's a character name from paw patrol but so what. My son has a top ten name that is a popular train cartoon.

Cosmoa · 22/12/2018 08:35

Haha I thought you were asking about the name Marshmallow at first 😂

Cosmoa · 22/12/2018 08:37

And I like Marlowe but for a girl.. Nn Marley! OH couldn't be convinced. Which I'm glad of as I'm not in love with it but still like it.

LovelyBranches · 22/12/2018 08:38

I have a friend whose surname is Marshall and she gets called Marsh or Marshall a lot. I think I prefer it. Not keen on Marlow, It doesn’t have any nice nn’s.

OhLemons · 22/12/2018 08:40

Marlow reminds me of the town and Marshall just reminds me of Paw Patrol. I don't think either are great first names, They certainly sound better as middle names but I still wouldn't consider Marlow.

Sittinonthefloor · 22/12/2018 08:40

Neither are really first names imo. Why not choose something less surname-ish. Marlowe is a own and Marshall makes me think of an Air Marshal (maybe quite cool, depending on your view) or person directing cars n a car park (less cool)

ArtisanPopcorn · 22/12/2018 08:49

Surname type names generally don't go down well on Mumsnet. Not keen on either.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/12/2018 09:18

Marlow is pretty so I'd say its more suited to a girl. I'd go with Marshall.
Even though I much prefer Marlow.

MerryMax · 22/12/2018 09:20

All the Marlows I've known have been girls. I think Marshall is fine.

Joinourclub · 22/12/2018 09:21

I'm not a fan of either.

What about Marcus?
