Nickname for Elizabeth

We are expecting DD2 this Spring and are really stuck on a name. We both love Elizabeth though I'm finding it hard to find a nickname I like (while i would be happy for the name to be used in full, I'm not sure this would be realistic once she reaches school age). Really not a big fan of the usual nicknames such as Lizzie, Liz, Libby, Betty, Betsy etc. Don't mind Elle or Ellie though worried they are too popular. What do people think of Ezzie? It's really growing on me though worried it's too 'out there' as not a normal shortening for Elizabeth. Was also thinking about 'Bee' but worried this might also be too much of a stretch. DD1 is Lucy.

I know a Zibby. I’ve also heard Elbie, Buffy and Liesel.

My Sil is Elizabeth, she goes by Liz or Lizzie.

I’d use the nickname Eliza, I think it’s a very pretty name, but like you don’t like Lizzie or Liz nicknames

I don't get this. Elle and Ellie aren't nicknames for Elizabeth. Never heard of Ezzie.

I've known an Ellie short for Elizabeth who would now be about 52, so it's not unheard of. Ezzie may be original but it's not absurd - you can still see a connection with the sounds in Elizabeth.

I've also known Elizabeths who went by Izzy and Tizzy - I don't know if either of them appeals? And one who shortened to Ebeth in writing, although I never heard it said out loud - I assume it was ee-beth kind of like e-mail!

Beth

Buffy, of course!

Though shortened names aren't inevitable - I know plenty of people with longer names that are never shortened if they don't want it to be

I'm now leaning towards Eliza as a nick name - it's growing on me! And hopefully it's a name that's unlikely to be shortened further. Also love Izzy but unfortunately a close friend has a little Izzy so feel it's not an option for us.
