Wilf or Albie?

TurquoiseWeekend · 13/12/2018 12:42

Baby is due at the end of Feb and we don't know the sex.
I thought we'd settled on Wilfred for a boy (known as Wilf). But we've decided we also quite like Albert (known as Albie).
Is Albie too much along the lines of Archie/Alfie etc? Which one is nicer?

Wilf.

tammytoby · 13/12/2018 20:54

Neither, sorry.

Theorangeorange · 13/12/2018 21:50

Love both!

FogCutter · 13/12/2018 21:52

Really dislike both, sorry.

Bigonesmallone3 · 13/12/2018 21:57

Love them both..

jellybean1986 · 13/12/2018 22:05

Love both :)

nocoolnamesleft · 13/12/2018 22:30

Isn't Albie usually an abbreviation for Albert? Personally prefer Wilfred.

notpushyinterested · 13/12/2018 22:31

Both awful imo

namechangeagainagainagain · 13/12/2018 22:41

I have a Wilf!

Love the name (obviously)

Very versatile if you go for Wilfred

Wilf
Will
Fred
Freddie
Etc xx

aliceolivx · 13/12/2018 22:46

I love albie! is one of my choices if I have a boy

DramaAlpaca · 13/12/2018 22:46

I detest both. Sorry.

Albert is marginally better than Wilfred.

BreconBeBuggered · 13/12/2018 22:49

I think you should be guided by a pp's typo and go with Wolf. That's a cool name.

blacksax · 14/12/2018 00:10

No. No no no. Just no. Not unless you are going to use the full name instead of the diminutive.

mouseymousie · 14/12/2018 11:07

Albie 💙

Astronica · 14/12/2018 12:22

I really like both Wilf and Albie! It's hard to choose between 2 such good names but I'm picking Wilf as it's less used than Albie at the moment.

GreenDinosaur · 14/12/2018 12:51

I'd have to agree with Srilli on this one but each to their own.

SingingSands · 14/12/2018 12:57

Albie is very cutesy. I can't imagine calling a grown up "Albie".

I know two Alberts. One gets "Al" a lot. I imagine a teenage Albie would be shortened to Al by his mates.

I like Wilf, it's getting more popular.

tammytoby · 14/12/2018 14:00

Albert is ok. But Albie is awful

Icklepup · 14/12/2018 15:18

Wilf

ForAMinuteThere · 15/12/2018 18:16

Weirdly just posted on another thread to say Wilbur. Similar to Wilf but less popular and its lovely.

Pp are right in that they're both super popular and are a bit 'Instagram try hard'

Hashbrownsandbeans · 18/12/2018 18:45

Wilf much better than Albie. Albie very very faddy and of the moment, and quite unbearable cutesie. Although, I really just can’t bear any boys names shortened to an -ie ending. Ralphie is the worst...

Shadow1234 · 18/12/2018 19:35

Prefer Wilf. Not keen on Albie.

MrMeSeeks · 18/12/2018 19:38

Albie, but i think wilf and albert ( i know albie is short but don’t mind the shortened one) are simply awful.
