Sister for Astrid

Hello all,

I’d be really grateful for opinions on the following as names for Astrid Iona’s wee sister !

We love old names. I’m Scottish and DH has Norwegian heritage (distant), we have a Norwegian surname starting with an “Oar” sound.... first names ending in consonants are much easier to say when running into our surname...

Here are our ideas!

Brianna
Arwen
Ramona (DH not fully sold on this...)
Corinne/Coryn
Yvaine
Merryn
Marnie

Tilda?

After reading the title I was going to suggest iona haha.

I really like Merryn from your list.

I love Astrid, currently pregnant with dd2 and its on the list but dd1 is Anneka and I don't want sharing initials.

Ingrid

Thanks guys ... I used to know an Ingrid and she was vile so perhaps that’s why I don’t like it. I do like ishbel with bel for nn so will suggest to DH! @Zebra I know what you mean about initial sharing. Only downside to Arwen for me.

We're expecting a girl in the Spring and we love the name Astrid. We also have Ottilie and Eleanor as frontrunners, so maybe one of those?

Snog · 12/12/2018 08:22

Myrtle or Willow

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 12/12/2018 08:28

Agree, re. Ingrid - the only one I've known was a horrid, selfish woman!

Astrid Iona and Merryn Yvaine

Gorgeous!

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 12/12/2018 08:36

(I'm a little obsessed with numbers and my above suggestions are particularly pleasing in that the 5th letter of each first name is the first letter of their corresponding middle name!)Blush

Anwen is lovely, or Arianwen. Anwen does t suffer the the LotR association to the same extent as Arwen.

Roslyn

Thanks all. Such lovely suggestions. DH has picked Arwen and Brianna as his top two. I love Arwen and just can’t choose between the rest, so I think she may be Arwen Brianna! Still a while yet to change our minds though x

What about Cora?

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 17/12/2018 01:04

I like Arwen and Merryn as well. I was also going to suggest Ingrid - although I went to school with a nasty one! I met a nice one later in life Smile
