I like Ancient Greek names, but this one is very mini cab company, cheap hotel.

LipstickTraces · 10/12/2018 08:13

There’s an Atlas at one of my baby groups. I think it rather suits him.

ViragoKnows · 10/12/2018 08:17

Love it but it's a heavy burden for a child to bear

Sorry bad joke

It really is though, isnt it?

MarthasGinYard · 10/12/2018 08:18

I really wouldn't go down that Road

ViragoKnows · 10/12/2018 08:19

It is not a name.

Of course its a name @JudasPrudy
The trouble is its the name of the god who held the sky up. (And more recently some bodybuilding dude.)

ApocalypseNowt · 10/12/2018 08:19

If you're fairly certain your child will grow up to look like Jason Momoa then yes.

Otherwise nope.

FishCanFly · 10/12/2018 13:12

NO! please... don't

mortifiedmama · 13/12/2018 08:53

I love it. But I live Greek and Roman names - Jupiter, hero, Juno etc.

LightDrizzle · 13/12/2018 09:07

Any name that strongly associated with specific physical attributes that aren’t fixed at birth is a burden and a risk:
Atlas
Hercules
Willow
Bambi
Pixie
We none of us know the roads our children will take, or what they will look like in 20, 40 or 60 years time. Their name is to last a lifetime, I think some people fail to think beyond the cutesy mini-me or wish-I-was. Or as in this case, seem to assume a name will act as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

GraceMarks · 13/12/2018 20:39

I really wouldn't. The Atlas from Greek mythology was made to carry the world on his shoulders as a terrible punishment, it's not exactly a positive association. Also, it makes me think of a man in a posing pouch doing stupid muscle flexes to keyboard demo music, but that could just be me.

kenandbarbie · 13/12/2018 20:44

Nope

ViragoKnows · 13/12/2018 20:44

Not only you, you're thinking of Charles Atlas.
