I love our eldest daughter’s name but it’s making our job of naming our babies a lot harder! It’s Aurora and we’ve already decided against a few names to avoid a ‘Disney’ looking sibset theme.

What about Walter, NN Walt w/ Penelope, NN Nell or Penny. Our new name crush 😍 It is literally Walt Disney’s name though.

We’ve also gone back to Margot but we have a Theodore who is Theo 99.9% of the time... Margot & Zachary are other names on the top of our list but are they too much? Probably would be Mari or Maggie & Theo - full names Margot & Theodore.

Otherwise it’s between Penelope & Oliver (popular, I know), Emmeline & Zachary or Cecily & Quentin. We also have a Violet. Thanks for your help!

I’m surprised to see you considered Cecily seeing as it’s such an “awful”, borderline “cruel” name to give to a child.

Hunter doesn’t fit our style at all but thanks. I guess we’ll have to take our chances with our list... At least they’ll grow into them one day lol.

I really love Walter as a name. Penelope is nice too Cecily & Quentin are cute.

I am not keen on Margot do not get the sudden popularity nor am I keen on emmeline and Oliver is just too popular for me.

Dorothy?

LordPickle · 07/12/2018 21:03

Please don't name a baby Walter. It sounds like an angry old man. Confused

3luckystars · 07/12/2018 21:04

I actually do really like Kristoff!

Hezz · 07/12/2018 21:19

I'm a bit lost and have no clue who Aurora is in Disney. I know Ariel the mermaid but not that one.

Chris Evans has just babes his twin Walt so it may get a bit more popular.

pipilangstrumpf · 07/12/2018 21:19

Ha, ha, we have a Quentin, and neither are we posh nor is he particularly good at Science, but imo he really suits his name Smile. I wonder where you get that image @noclunoidea.?!

Anyway, I'm not so keen on Walter and find Oliver too popular. My favourites are Cecily, Penelope and Quentin.

BigBoringWedding · 07/12/2018 21:20

@pixieloux, my power of veto was exercised over having those names. They were on my wife’s list but I couldn’t stand any of them. Up our way it is all Archie, Henry, Flora etc.

lottiegarbanzo · 07/12/2018 21:29

All really nice names except Walter.

I think of Walter the Softy from the old Dennis the Menace cartoons. Also Walter Mitty. It's very old man, not in a nice way. Oh, there was old Walter Gabriel in The Archers, he was nice, Gabriel's a nice name!

Quentin is Uncle Quentin in The Famous Five. It's quite sweet though and unusual now.

IMO Theo and Margot don't sound too alike, because when I hear names I'm aware of the spelling and this makes the 'o' seem to sound slightly different.

pixieloux · 07/12/2018 22:54

Sleeping Beauty, @Hezz but I do prefer the Borealis connection, if I’m honest lol.

@3luckystars Kristoff is cute but not really what we’re looking for lol.

DH laughed at posh, @pipilangstrumpf 😂 Definitely not the name for us if it’s a ‘posh boy name’ lol.

I’m glad your daughter had you to save her from the unthinkable, @BigBoringWedding

A friend of a friend has a Walter, it popped up on my Facebook newsfeed and we really liked it. Perhaps I should ask if he’s a grumpy old man trapped in a baby’s body before considering it lol. In all seriousness, I don’t think we’re brave enough to use Walter with Rora’s name. It also doesn’t seem to be one of the old fashioned names that has made a comeback lol. I still love it though. Oliver is too popular, I agree... I love it but it was what we ended up vetoing it for with DS. We’re still considering Cecily & Quentin, Emmeline & Zachary and Margot & Zachary... We’ll risk the cruelty charges lol.

I'm not so keen on Walter or Walt even without the Disney connection. My favourite combo is Quentin and Cecily. Zachary is nice too but I'm not keen on Zac/Zak/Zach, it sounds like a sound in a comic strip!

tammytoby · 08/12/2018 12:04

I like Cecily & Quentin and Penelope & Zachary.

bridgetreilly · 08/12/2018 12:15

OP, I think you've had more baby naming threads than I've had hot dinners. Just pick them already.

bridgetreilly · 08/12/2018 12:20

It’s just getting tiresome over analysing every name we like now.

You don't say.

pixieloux · 08/12/2018 12:25

@bridgetreilly I’m not forcing you to read or comment on them, love.

I would have clocked Walter and Aurora as both being Disney related, especially if you call him Walt. However I think as you have other children too that it would be fine and it does work as a set.
