I love our eldest daughter’s name but it’s making our job of naming our babies a lot harder! It’s Aurora and we’ve already decided against a few names to avoid a ‘Disney’ looking sibset theme.

What about Walter, NN Walt w/ Penelope, NN Nell or Penny. Our new name crush 😍 It is literally Walt Disney’s name though.

We’ve also gone back to Margot but we have a Theodore who is Theo 99.9% of the time... Margot & Zachary are other names on the top of our list but are they too much? Probably would be Mari or Maggie & Theo - full names Margot & Theodore.

Otherwise it’s between Penelope & Oliver (popular, I know), Emmeline & Zachary or Cecily & Quentin. We also have a Violet. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, it’s what we naturally shortened it to and people have just followed, I guess. She has also gotten Rory in the past.

Cecily and Quentin followed by Zachary and Emmeline would be my choices.

pixieloux · 06/12/2018 11:26

Thanks for the replies! I think we’ll just stick with Emmeline/Cecily or Zachary/Quentin. I don’t want it to seem like I’m forcing a new nickname on my almost seven year old so I can use the name Walter 😂

starkid · 06/12/2018 11:31

Emmeline & Zachary :)

3in4years · 06/12/2018 11:36

OP your posts are so hard to read!

pixieloux · 06/12/2018 11:46

Sorry about that, I’m just trying to condense things down so you’re not reading pages of info especially as I’ve already made a few posts and most of you probably already know things like my children’s names. Clearly it’s difficult for me to do so properly on very little sleep (thanks to insomnia) and a horrid cold though.

Softplay bingo! Isn’t it like naming a dog - you don’t want to have a name that you would be embarrassed to shout out in public?

pixieloux · 06/12/2018 12:22

@BigBoringWedding Huh? Lol.

Basically, I had two questions...

Would it come across as if we were huge Disney fans if we named DS2 Walter when DD1 is Aurora?

Are Margot & Theodore too close for siblings when Theodore is called Theo 99.9% of the time.

I also tried to explain that have more than two children so it wouldn’t just be Aurora & Walter - if that matters and that we shorten our children’s names so we’d most probably do the same with Margot.

What I was trying to say wasn’t clear to a few people however... Just excuse my frazzled brain at the moment! I have a lot going on.

No to the Disney question, Yes to Theo and Margo being very (too?) similar.

Winona1 · 06/12/2018 12:58

Theo and Margot aren't similar at all ?

MadameJosephine · 06/12/2018 13:12

So have I got this straight. You already have Aurora (Rora), Theodore (Theo) and Violet and are having a set of boy/girl twins, yes?

I’d go for Emmeline and Zachary from your options

I also love

Felicity and Edison
Annaliese and Victor
Verity and Gabriel
Aurelia and Vincent

stargazer124 · 06/12/2018 13:27

I'd go for Emmeline & Zachary or Cecily & Quentin.

Emmeline may end up as Emmie which would be a shame as there are so many Evies, Ellies, Emilys out there already. That would put me off personally.

gummibears · 06/12/2018 14:16

Love Cecily!

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/12/2018 17:56

Honestly, yes , I would think of Disney if one of your kids was Walt let alone having a Walt and a Disney princess lol sorry. Also really dislike Walt/Walter, it's old and not in a good way, and doesn't sound nice with your other kids names.... Sorry!

pixieloux · 06/12/2018 18:24

To be honest, I’m starting to think screw it at this point.

There are so many Disney films released and I’m sure many more to come, we could use a name and in a few years, it turn out to be the main character in a new one. Disney didn’t invent the names, they just used them... Aurora is more than just a Disney princess, Sebastian isnt just the crab’s name in The Little Mermaid, Oliver definitely wiser known than the cat, there is more than one Walter out there, etc.

It’s just getting tiresome over analysing every name we like now.

Thanks for the help though everyone.

I would associate Aurora and Walter with Disney.

I also think both names have very much the same vowel sound, a long Aww in the 'alt' of Walter and the 'rora' of Aurora.

So I would not use Walter.

Likewise, I would not use Margot when you have a boy who is called Theo 99% of the time. If you want Maggie or Mari then go for Margaret or Marie/Mary/Mariah/Maria.

I still think Oliver and Cecily are your best bets.

nocluenoidea · 07/12/2018 02:59

Question 1: no I would not associate it with Disney, however Walter is an awful name (and your children all have lovely names) so I'd be avoiding it for that reason!

Question 2: no, why would Margot and Theo be too close?! Though the same applies as question 1, I really dislike the name Margot.

The other names you've suggested are much nicer. Zachery would definitely be my choice for boy, I think it's hard to pull Quentin off unless you are either massively posh and intend to have a public school boy, or you are a science geek.

moredoll · 07/12/2018 03:07

Don't like Walter at all, sorry.

Cecily and Zachary are my faves from your list.

gummibears · 07/12/2018 08:24

Of all your options I would choose Cecily and Quentin. Both great names that go well with your other kids' names.

pixieloux · 07/12/2018 19:44

Lol, well we’re not at all posh let alone massively so although I’m sure there are many Quentins out there that aren’t posh either. Science geek, I’m unsure of right now but it’s unlikely with DH and I as his parents lol... I can’t say either of us are very knowledgeable in that area.

Margot & Theo end in the same sound but I don’t know if it’s an issue as we’re likely to use a NN with these DCs - like we do all our others. It’s not that we want a Maggie or Mari, we’re just thinking of what possible shortened forms could come from Margot (and all our options) We’re not fans of Margaret either.

I love an old man/lady name and usually DH screws his nose up if they’re that bad but he was the one who actually said he liked it. I’ll tell him he’s finally gotten as old fashioned as me 😂

Remember you are giving birth to a child not a pensioner! I’m afraid to say all names mentioned so far by pretty much everyone have been awful bordering on cruel.

BigBoringWedding · 07/12/2018 19:57

(Except your existing three of course - they are quite nice)

pixieloux · 07/12/2018 19:58

Yep and they won’t be children forever either. Well, I think cruel is far fetched but please feel free to offer some suggestions!

I had to veto so many myself during DD gestation- Ruby, Iris, Esme, Jocelyn, Cecily/Cecilia. What about Hunter for a boy and Daphne for a girl? No, they’re sh!t too - I can see how tricky this is.
