Thoughts on the name Lyric?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SoupDragon · 03/12/2018 11:30

Awful.

MrsGollach · 03/12/2018 11:31

Are you being serious?

Narya · 03/12/2018 11:32

Hate it im afraid. I used to know one, she'd be in her early twenties now, I wonder if she still uses the name?

SilverBirchTree · 03/12/2018 11:35

I've heard worse.

trulybadlydeeply · 03/12/2018 11:36

For a boy or girl?

I was unaware that it's a name, but if it is, and you like it, then why not. I personally find it quite a "harsh" name, very similar to Eric/Erica. I guess it would end up being shortened to Rick/Rickie which is quite cute for either a boy or girl.

Wolfiefan · 03/12/2018 11:37

Nope.

strawberrypenguin · 03/12/2018 11:37

Nope. Sorry!

ernjas · 03/12/2018 11:43

I actually quite like it!

RCohle · 03/12/2018 11:44

Only if you have another DC called Music.

Wolfiefan · 03/12/2018 12:00

Or Cadence like on “Nashville” Grin

ThanksItHasPockets · 03/12/2018 12:06

As long as you don’t live in Hammersmith.

festivedramallama · 03/12/2018 12:10

Melody is much better

Flamingosnbears · 03/12/2018 12:16

There is also Lyrica... Aria may be a better choice though.

ImAChaiseLongueGetMeOutOfHere · 03/12/2018 12:17

Lyra? As in Dark Materials

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 03/12/2018 12:22

To go with her brother Epic?

No, sorry.

How about naming her after one of the Muses?

MamaDane · 03/12/2018 12:26

Lyrica (Pregabalin) is a medicine @Flamingosnbears it's anti-epileptic.
Lyric sounds nice, the actual word, but truthfully I don't think it's a good name. It's a bit campy and tacky.

Just imagine Lyric being an adult with that name. Could you take a sergeant Lyric seriously? Or doctor Lyric? Lawyer Lyric?

whatsthecraic91 · 03/12/2018 12:29

Brutal

myselfandme · 03/12/2018 12:32

There's a Lyric at my daughter's school. Her brother has a unique name too but I shan't post it since it'll be easily identifiable to anyone who knows them. I think she's about 5 or 6, my daughter's in a different class.
I don't know if I like it or not but it's not the worst I've heard

ZebraKid71 · 03/12/2018 13:26

I know of two, one American, one British, both about 6 I think. I don't like it personally.

To the poster above, Cadence is actually a fairly popular name in the states.

Onatreebyariver · 03/12/2018 13:29

Sounds chavtastic!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/12/2018 13:29

I don't like it personally but why should it be any less accepted than Melody.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/12/2018 13:30

Or Harmony

loubluee · 03/12/2018 13:33

Sounds like my medication....

Cbeebiesrehab · 03/12/2018 14:59

I think it’s got quite a soft sound to it (pardon the pun) I can imagine she would have a sister called Wren or a brother called Fox. I wouldn’t use it personally but I don’t dislike it.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 03/12/2018 15:06

Just no.
