Thoughts on the name Lyric?

No.

rainbowquack · 03/12/2018 15:17

No way.

Confusedbeetle · 03/12/2018 15:18

Be prepared for your child to be mocked at school

MissLadyM · 03/12/2018 15:18

Shockingly bad

DappledThings · 03/12/2018 20:27

As long as you don’t live in Hammersmith.

Or Belfast, for the same reason.

Cosmoa · 03/12/2018 21:00

I really like it. I also love Story ❤️

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/12/2018 21:07

Oh, Story would be awful, but I do like Lyric.

MoMoandJoJo · 03/12/2018 21:14

I like it, and I'm usually quite traditional with baby names

slappinthebass · 03/12/2018 21:19

I love it.

Cosmoa · 04/12/2018 09:41

Well I know a couple of Story's... One is a guy in his late 20's and another is a little girl. Both suit it beautifully! So I can't help but love the name 🙂

Nagsnovalballs · 04/12/2018 09:44

I knew a horse called Lyric, big grey hunter. Very kind, honest gelding, and quite handsome in a large sort of way.

Lady owner had a nasty fall from him out hunting and lost a kidney.

VictoryOrValhalla · 04/12/2018 09:44

It’s a theatre in Belfast Grin

GimbleInTheWabe · 04/12/2018 10:09

Sorry OP not to my taste. Lyra is lovely though. Or Lydia.

FogCutter · 04/12/2018 10:22

Awful.

Reminds me of theatres I have been to!

daisypond · 04/12/2018 12:21

I quite like it - I can see the appeal. As PP have said, if you can have Melody and Cadence, I don't see why not. Sounds more like a boy's name to me, though. If you put it into italian with a feminine ending, you'd get Lirica, which sounds quite nice for a girl.

Ontopofthesunset · 04/12/2018 12:34

I find it strange when people say names really suit individuals, unless they're very descriptive names like Grace or Rufus (where the person has red hair). Don't we really mean simply that we know that person and associate the name with them and therefore the name doesn't seem strange to us?

I mean, I'm struggling to understand how someone could 'suit' the name Story (which by implication means that a different person might not 'suit' it). Would one person have an exciting narrative to their life or be an entertaing raconteur or a skilled liar? Or wouldl it not suit someone with a boring life who was rather quiet and always told the truth?

Icklepup · 04/12/2018 16:15

It's awful

LordPickle · 04/12/2018 16:17

Depends...are you famous? If so, then it's ok. If you're not, then hell no. Grin

Blondie1994 · 05/12/2018 00:33

I'm afraid my first thought was that word dosent work as a name sorry feels very try hard Imao

PointlessUsername · 05/12/2018 00:40

I like it.

There was a film in the 90s where Jada Pinkett played a character called Lyric.

Thetigerwhocameto · 05/12/2018 01:06

Do you have an older DC called Music, my immediate thought was the dodgy film Music and Lyrics

Coldhandscoldheart · 05/12/2018 06:25

Cosmoa you’re absolutely right of course, that was my first reaction. I always think it is interesting how some of our inner thoughts pop out on baby names.

Klobuchar · 05/12/2018 06:30

It’s utterly dreadful. Why mark your kid out for life with a name like that?
