Currently expecting first baby with my partner. I have two older children and he has 1.
We love the name
Lyla Iris
Lots of people have liked it but great grandma hates it

Love it.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/11/2018 19:56

Bit tongue twistery to be honest.
I'm saying Lyra Ilis and Lila Ilis.
However if you're only going to call her Lyra day to day. I don't suppose it matters, really.

Greggers2017 · 28/11/2018 19:59

She said it was too different never thought of it as hard to say.
They're both significant meaningful names to
Me and other half

It’s fine.

ernjas · 28/11/2018 20:02

I also think it's a bit tongue twistery but both lovely names.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/11/2018 20:03

Lyla and Iris are far from different.
Im tripping over them,

AuntMarch · 28/11/2018 20:14

I've known an Iris and a couple of Lila's, they aren't "out there" names. Agree they don't necessarily flow well together but if not being used together day to day that's not an issue.
(I like Lyla, and Iris is fine, in my own opinion. My chosen middle name isn't one I particularly like for the name itself though and just means a lot to me!)

MrSoft · 28/11/2018 20:16

I think it's the end of Lyla and the start of Iris that makes it such a mouthful. How about Iris Lyla instead?

ZebraKid71 · 28/11/2018 20:19

It's nice but very tongue twistery. Could you add another middle name to break it up? Lyra Jane Iris for example.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 28/11/2018 20:22

I agree put another name in the middle - your grandmas name for example! Wink

Pebblespony · 28/11/2018 20:27

Is the Iris going to be a middle name, hardly ever used or is she going to be known as Lyla Iris, on the school roll for example? If the former, it's fine. If the latter, it's a bit much.

Greggers2017 · 28/11/2018 20:28

😂😂 definitely not my mamas name she's called ivy 🙈
I don't think iris Lyla sounds very nice, is that because I've got my heart set on the above?
I suppose the baby will just be Lyla and iris wouldn't be used often with it being a middle name. Thankfully nobody uses my middle name, it's awful

ColdCrumpetsAndButter · 28/11/2018 20:58

Lyla Rose Iris

stellarfox · 28/11/2018 21:02

It’s a nice name! I love Iris. Nothing wrong with Lyla but I don’t love it

Greggers2017 · 28/11/2018 21:13

Lyla rose iris sounds nice but rose is meh! Everybody's middle name is rose or may or grace at the moment.
too.
The other children all have a first name and a middle name so not wanting to add an extra one.
Hmmmm!
Oldest is Amelie Olivia maybe im attracted to tongue twisters ha

OP posts:
ReginaPhalange89 · 28/11/2018 21:13

It's nice but agree it's a tongue twister . I ended up saying Lyra in my head.

Cosmoa · 28/11/2018 21:23

Don't understand why people are finding it so hard to say!

I think it's a lovely name. Much more refreshing than Rose and Grace for instance...

Cosmoa · 28/11/2018 21:24

Lol only just seen your last post! I also love Amelie Olivia ❤️

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/11/2018 22:31

Agree with Awwlook it's too much of a tongue twister. Second name needs to start with a consonant.

Sophronia · 29/11/2018 05:13

I prefer Lila Iris

ceecee32 · 29/11/2018 05:54

Might be because I am a northerners but I put an 'r' in the middle...... lileriris

NotANotMan · 29/11/2018 06:02

they don't go together at all. Lyra is quite a soft wishy washy name and in my opinion needs a stronger middle name to balance it.

Greggers2017 · 29/11/2018 06:54

The name is not Lyra it is Lyla from the oasis song

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 29/11/2018 06:57

I think it's lovely but quite hard to say. Having said that, how often do you say the middle name? Not very often.

Congratulations! Thanks

TheMythicalChicken · 29/11/2018 07:00

Call her Lyla and keep Iris for your next DD?
