Is Queenie a usable name? Is it more middle name material or do you think it's bad in general? Hmm

I like Queenie a lot, but don't think it's very usable as a standalone name, especially now that the Fantastic Beasts series is out - everyone will assume she is named after that character, who, in the last movie, turned out to be a useless wet mop who may as well've been written out of the series.

Queenie is better as a nickname for a Victoria or Elizabeth.

She might be a quiet low key child who would hate it - some people could carry it off I guess but quite a risk. I like non dull over used names (please no more eves and Olivia’s) but this goes abit far for me

Queenie to me is a woman in her 70's, swanning around in her dressing gown smelling of Chanel 5, Marlboro golds and whisky.

Please don’t. Adrian Mole here too - leopard print and chain smoking and badly dyed hair.

puppymouse · 27/11/2018 14:27

Reminds me of Burt's lady friend in Adrian Mole.

I’m not a fan myself but I do love unique names. And if you love it then...

I think there are loads of beautiful Harry Potter names btw. Hermione, Ginny, Bella, Luna.

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2018 14:34

It used to be a nick name for Victoria.

SilverySurfer · 27/11/2018 17:26

It's hideous.

Gyokuro · 27/11/2018 17:35

Even in spite of the positive association with that character from Fantastic Beasts, I still hate the name so there's that!

Branleuse · 27/11/2018 19:21

dont let them stop you OP

MsTSwift · 27/11/2018 23:27

Op if you like it so much you could have it as your name? Don’t want to ? There’s your answer.

Camsie30 · 27/11/2018 23:28

I LOVE it. Almost called my daughter Queenie but it just doesn't work with my surname.

Nanalisa60 · 27/11/2018 23:39

Queenie well that brings back memories my gran had a friend called Queenie!! Auntie Queenie swore like a trooper loved a port and lemonade and had a heart of gold I really liked her always up for doing a turn at a party!! She really was a lovely funny lady had loads of good stories. my gran use to say she had kept many any American happy in the war. But my grand was an old mow at times and they really had a love hate relationship.

ThunderInMyHeart · 27/11/2018 23:50

I love and also hate it

Makes me think of F R Leavis’ wife

Nanalisa60 · 28/11/2018 09:14

As I have said in a earlier post the only Queenie I Knew was one of my grans friends (both eastenders) also think it’s a popular name in the gypsy community as well. I’m not really sure if it’s a little girls name ? But then planty of people call there girls princess. Any way one good trick for choosing a name is going to a busy public place and shouting it out loud because that what you will be doing in a few years time Queenie come back here !! Queenie stop doing that !! Queenie I said NO

Hope this helps!! Please let us all know what you choose!!
