My dd is due in March. I’m thinking of calling her Lindsey after an auntie. Is it too dated though?

Yes it's dated, but it's a perfectly nice name. Nothing wrong with it if you like it.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 20/11/2018 18:09

I think it's very pretty. I

finallychangedmyusername · 20/11/2018 18:14

I really like Lindsey and don't find it too dated, more "underused".

YoloThankfully · 20/11/2018 18:24

Beautiful name Wink perfect spelling too Grin

Zimbabwebadgers · 20/11/2018 18:27

I met a baby Lindsey last year. She had a sister with another 80s name, but I thought it was quite refreshing.

ReginaPhalange89 · 20/11/2018 18:30

I went to school with a lot of Lindsey's so to me it does feel a bit dated, but it's perfectly nice ! I actually met a toddler called Jennifer the other day ! Was a bit shocked lol it seems like those names might be due a come back though. I've met a lot of baby David's recently and a baby Andrew too!

I know a 'Linzi' and quite like that spelling , makes it feel a bit younger! Don't know if it's her real spelling though or if she's changed it

midsomermurderess · 20/11/2018 18:36

I think it's dated and I don't like the spelling.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/11/2018 19:13

Yes it's dated.
However who says that's a bad thing. Its very pretty and she'll most likely be the only one in her class. Do you want her to be another Ava Olivia or Amelia.
I'd go for it.

Jessbow · 20/11/2018 20:22

Lyndsay is F spelling, Isnt it?
Lyndsey is M spelling

Lindsey is a surname

Shadow1234 · 20/11/2018 20:46

Very pretty name. If you love it, then go for it!

Watto1 · 20/11/2018 20:48

My best mate from school is Lindsay. Lovely name but so many different spellings!

DramaAlpaca · 20/11/2018 20:49

As I understand it, Lindsey is the traditional female version & Lindsay, which is also a Scottish surname, is the male version.

Any other spellings are variations on the originals.

The Lindsay spelling for a girl became popular in the United States, probably because of the tradition of using surnames as first names for girls.

greendale17 · 20/11/2018 20:58

Urgh it is right up there with Carol and Linda in the dated stakes.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 20/11/2018 21:25

Isn't it Lindsay?

lebkuchenlover · 20/11/2018 21:27

Lovely, refreshing and interesting! Great choice.

hungryhippie · 20/11/2018 21:29

I like it. Definitely due a comeback.

HallowsandHorcruxes · 20/11/2018 21:42

I think that's lovely actually, definitely due a comeback Smile

TulipsInbloom1 · 20/11/2018 21:44

Dated but not in the Tracy/Sharon era. More the Gemma/Nikki era.

Prefer Lynsey.

LadyPamplemousse · 20/11/2018 23:18

I know a Lindsay, Linzi, and a Lynsey. And there are probably more spellings too!

It's kind of dated but a pretty name and will undoubtedly be back in fashion at some point.

Clickncollect · 20/11/2018 23:26

Lol! Am so chuffed to see that you’re considering this lovely name. Hell yes, it’s totally dated but it’s a classic in my (very biased) opinion Wink
The spelling is a painnnnnnn though and has been my whole life. I’m spelt LYNSEY but people are forever flinging D’s around.
Linzi always looked a bit exotic dancer to me so not sure about that one.
When I was at school (I’m 41) there were three Lyndsey/Lynsey in my school year and I’m still good friends with one of them. We always have banter in our birthday cards criticising the others spelling.

Marcipex · 21/11/2018 07:51

I really like it, also Lindis.

BedHair · 21/11/2018 07:53

I think it’s very eighties. Agree with a pp that it’s Gemma/Lisa/Joanne territory.

lebkuchenlover · 21/11/2018 07:55

Beautiful name and love that its 'dated' as in not fashionable now. Makes a refreshing change from all the Evie/Ellie/Ella/Ava names. Great choice!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/11/2018 08:36

Tbf though, Ieb, I've not heard of a baby Ellie or heard of any while out and about many for years. Therefore I'd personally say that is also dated and becoming unusual.

Astronica · 21/11/2018 08:54

A good name and perfectly usable. I like it a lot and say go for it! I find it a refreshing change from endless Avas, Ellas, Stellas etc.
