Lindsey for a baby name?

My dd is due in March. I’m thinking of calling her Lindsey after an auntie. Is it too dated though?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes! Great choice 😉

The spelling is a total pain as people are desperate to throw Is or Ds about but I do prefer how mine looks. I would say they learn but I still get cards from DH family with a random D shoved in or maybe an A if they're feeling wild!

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 21/11/2018 09:42

Fab name, I love it. I don't associate it with Gemma/Lisa territory at all!

JemSynergy · 21/11/2018 12:55

Hmm Yes, to me it is dated therefore, I would use it as a middle name.

Clickncollect · 21/11/2018 13:32

@AnotherLynsey Are you me?! Grin

lebkuchenlover · 21/11/2018 14:28

To those saying it's dated - is that a good or bad thing? I think it's great as it will stand out from all the currently trendy/ overused names!

AnotherLynsey · 21/11/2018 15:56

@Clickncollect - possibly! I also have school friend Linzi (and yes, always thought it was exotic dancer spelling, she's not though sadly Grin)

I did once get a coca-cola bottle with Lynsey on it, quite an achievement I thought!

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 21/11/2018 16:00

I went to school with several and I’m going to chuck another variation of the spelling at you: Linsey.

It’s quite nice, I don’t hate it.

BakedBeans47 · 21/11/2018 20:29

I think it’s ok but the number of mis/spellings would put me off

cptartapp · 21/11/2018 20:43

I'm a Lindsay of the 70's, hate it. Nobody ever spells it correctly, even family after all these years. Quite nice for a little girl but not for a woman in her 40's IME.

foxtiger · 21/11/2018 21:04

Nice name, and I definitely prefer your chosen spelling for a girl.

Pompom42 · 21/11/2018 21:36

It's ok but don't use that spelling. It's a Surname

Kokeshi123 · 22/11/2018 08:31

Not bad. It is a bit 80s but its pretty and at least is a refreshing change.

MonkeyToucher · 22/11/2018 09:23

I’m personally not a fan of names that have lots of ambiguity around spelling - particularly when there’s a male and a female spelling (see also: Frances/ Francis) You are setting your child up for a future of having to spell it out/correct people and I think that’s a bit mean.

I probably feel a bit more strongly on this due to having a last name you have to spell though!

ManiaTas19 · 22/11/2018 11:28

In all honesty I'd never even consider this name as I don't think it is one that has "come back around" but now you mention it I actually really like it- which surprises me! Definitely makes a refreshing change.
