Middle name for Ruby

I know some people will have negative views of the name Ruby but DH and I really like and have been calling baby it for at least the last 3-4 weeks (I am 27w pregnant) so seems likely it will be her name (but I really liked Aurora James for a while so could still change my mind!)

Our surname begins without R so thinking of middle names to go with Ruby

DH likes Ruby Charlotte and Ruby Cerys

I like Ruby Isabella but DH thinks it sounds like Rubella!

I like Ruby Alyssa
Ruby Sofia
Ruby Sienna

Not sure a middle name beginning with R would work...

🤔

How does in roll off your tongue with your surname?
I'm a bit obsessed with how many consonants and syllables it takes to say a name

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 10:46

I think may faves all sound ok with surname

If begins with R, has two syllables and six consonants 😬

Anne
Joy
Charlotte

I think most names go well unless they end in " ie"

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 10:49

I agree I don’t want Ruby plus another name that ends in “y” or “ie”

Ruby May (my grandmother's name)

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 16:02

Second person suggesting Ruby May today 🤔

It’s lovely but don’t think it’s for us

I think I agree with your DH on Ruby Isabella, the other suggestions are lovely though.

Just a word of warning. Ruby is extremely popular around here. Every Ruby is know by their first and last name and even then there's some confusion. DD and her BF we're counting all of the Rubys in their year last night and actually lost count.

Sophronia · 26/01/2019 16:14

Ruby Adelaide
Ruby Rebecca
Ruby Caroline
Ruby Delilah
Ruby Evangeline
Ruby Gloria
Ruby Georgina
Ruby Imogen
Ruby Jocelyn
Ruby Jennifer
Ruby Matilda
Ruby Ramona
Ruby Susannah
Ruby Victoria
Ruby Arabella

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 16:16

Oh gosh we were trying to avoid a name that loads of people have but it seems every name we like is popular all over! 🤷🏻‍♀️

MegaBat · 26/01/2019 16:20

Out of a lot of these suggestions, ruby charlotte is one of the only ones that flows properly when you say it. The others are just clunky

missmouse101 · 26/01/2019 16:29

May or May are done to death as middle names! Don't even consider it! How about Lowenna, Faith or Fern?

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 16:30

Never heard Lowenna before; not sure about Fern but quite like Faith

You can do better than Ruby May/Mae - it is one of three default, filler middle names that is utterly meaningless.

If you don't want to go for Sabreena (never seen it spelt like this), what about Sabrina?

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 22:05

I don’t think Ruby May / Mae is for us

The reason I went for Sabreena with that spelling is because I have a family member with that name (abroad hence slightly different spelling)... so if I used that name it would probably be with that spelling

@TatianaLarina

OK, "Tatiana"............

Sarahlm123 · 21/04/2020 18:54

What did you go for in the end x

LotusClover · 21/04/2020 19:20

Please don't use James as a middle name for a girl!

Ruby Aurora would be nice.

Ruby Amelia
Ruby Caitlin
Ruby Eve
Ruby Faye
Ruby Kate
Ruby Orla
Ruby Tanya
Ruby Violet
