Middle name for Ruby

AliceRR · 10/11/2018 12:22

I know some people will have negative views of the name Ruby but DH and I really like and have been calling baby it for at least the last 3-4 weeks (I am 27w pregnant) so seems likely it will be her name (but I really liked Aurora James for a while so could still change my mind!)

Our surname begins without R so thinking of middle names to go with Ruby

DH likes Ruby Charlotte and Ruby Cerys

I like Ruby Isabella but DH thinks it sounds like Rubella!

I like Ruby Alyssa
Ruby Sofia
Ruby Sienna

Not sure a middle name beginning with R would work...

🤔

I love the middle name James for a girl. I was only saying to my husband the other day I really liked Ryan, James & Hunter for girls. Probably another crazy moment. But James is Ruby James R.... sounds great x

moredoll · 11/11/2018 04:11

Ruby Alexandra is lovely.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 11/11/2018 04:16

My daughters middle names are Mairead, Genevieve & Ottilie if you like any of those

squirrelnutkins1 · 11/11/2018 04:58

Ruby Beau

AliceRR · 11/11/2018 08:38

Demelza is a new one!

I love Adaline
Francesca is good too. It was only my list for first names but didn’t think of it as a middle name
I like Isabelle or Isobel
Ruby Elayba and Ruby Evelyn - Love all those!

I like Genevieve a lot

I like James for a girl too. My cousin actually suggested it as a first name then remembered it is DH’s name! DH thinks it is weird to do give her his middle name and suggested she has my middle name but I think that’s odd and don’t think my name goes with what we’re looking at anyway

And my name begins with R as well...

Ruby James Rsurname is fine.
I like Ruby Harriet.
Ruby Clementine is too fruity.

We are still calling baby Ruby but still need a middle name. Well I say “need” but DH and I don’t have middle names.
Anyway I just went through all of them with him and the only one he likes is Ruby Rihanna R_ 🙄

And he likes Ruby Cerys

Florence
Alice
Charlotte
Henrietta
Willow

Cazastrophe · 19/12/2018 09:06

I like Ruby Megan.
So many girls called Ruby are hyphenated these days so would avoid that.

AliceRR · 19/12/2018 20:50

I love Ruby Charlotte. It’s already on my list!

I like Ruby Henrietta too

Both Megan and Alice are my niece’s names (DH sisters children) although not sure that matters

I have a cousin called Sabreena and considered Ruby Sabreena but not sure about that

I haven’t come across any hyphenated Ruby’s but wasn’t going to hyphenate it

I was going to suggest Ruby May before I’d seen it was one of your options! I think they go really nicely together Smile

I’ve also got a gemstone name though, so I’m a bit biased Wink

YouSetTheTone · 20/12/2018 09:10

I like your DH suggestion of Ruby Harriet actually!
Also Ruby Faith as a pp suggested. Although I know you’d prefer a longer name.
Ruby Emmeline?
Ruby Florence?

AliceRR · 20/12/2018 11:42

I’ve also got a gemstone name though, so I’m a bit biased

Smile

I like Ruby Emmeline. Seems similar to Ruby Adaline

Although DH seems to dislike all of these suggestions now!

Not sure about Ruby Faith. Maybe you’re right that I just prefer the longer names, especially as Ruby is only four letters

Aurora is lovely and much more interesting than Ruby.

AliceRR · 20/12/2018 16:38

I like Aurora but there are a lot of people around calling their baby Aurora and Rory it seems

Aurora was top of my list but Ruby has grown on me! I think it’s cute.

Ruby Eloise has a nice ring to it...

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 10:22

Ruby Geneviève
Ruby Charlotte
Ruby Francesca
Ruby Adaline
Ruby Sienna
Ruby Carys

The meaning is important to me too to some degree

Geneviève came up in a search of names that mean “blessing” but then I read mixed things about what it actually means...

Ruby May (or Mae)

AliceRR · 26/01/2019 10:26

I like Ruby Mae but feel like I want a longer middle name if we’re having one

SandunesAndRainclouds · 26/01/2019 10:28

Ruby Tuesday 😉
