Isaac

I have a beautiful baby boy and he still has no name.

We like Isaac... I'm worried it's not a strong enough name (always wanted a strong name) and that it's maybe too popular?

Thoughts?

Have you decided yet OP? I have an Isaac so clearly it's great Grin. Mine has been called Zac on occasion, although he is Isaac most of the time (answers to most things!) I like Ike too.
Other names on my list, similar sounding were:
Jacob/Jake
Lucas/Luke
Elijah
Samuel

Agree that Ezra is fab too.

I like it. My eldest’s friend is an Isaac. He’s never been Zac yet, and they are 12. Both of my boys have very common shortenings to their names but are so far known only as their full names (neither is over long). We don’t hate the shortenings though and we’d have been more hesitant if we did.

We've decided, he's Isaac! He has 3 middle names (don't ask) and his name is definitely one of a kind!

Welcome Isaac!

Yay

I love my Isaac, it's a great name. Watch out for folk spelling it Issac, drives me wild

Woohoo how exciting! Welcome baby Issac.....

Isaac is a lovely name, congrats OP!

Excellent choice. Isaac is a beautiful name. For what it's worth I know two Isaacs - neither have ever shortened their name, to Zac or anything else.

I think it's a wonderful name. It was on my list for two DC but both were girls.
It does seem to have become very popular in recent years, though.

My brother Isaac has never been Zak, however, much to my mother's chagrin, my uncles nicknamed him Ike and it's always stuck. And as a kid we called him Ikey. His friends call him Iz I think. I love the name and meaning though.

My nephew is Isaac and even though he's 6 DM still has trouble spelling it

Another2day · 02/11/2018 08:23

It could get misspelled as Issac.

Ike as a nickname definitely sounds a "strong" name to me. (It was the nickname of Dwight Eisenhower who was Supreme Allied Commander during World War II and later President of the USA.)

Isaac to me is associated with Newton and that's pretty cool imo.

The laughter meaning is lovely too.
