Effie
Frances
Elva
Quinn
Andie - but only if short for Andrea

Really don’t like the rest I’m afraid

IVflytrap · 21/10/2018 21:47

Frances
Romy
Noa
Jovie
Effie
Andie
Quinn

Blair, Teryn and Onyx are pretty bad. Elva soynds like elver which is the name for a baby eel.

Mayhemmumma · 21/10/2018 21:52

Romy is my favourite and Elva is cool

pinkpanther84 · 21/10/2018 21:53

I like Romy and Effie x

DramaAlpaca · 21/10/2018 21:55

I like Romy best, then Frances.

I won't rate the rest as I dislike them all equally Wink

AuntieStella · 21/10/2018 21:56

Andie - fine (and I'd spell it like this)
Blair - no, surname with bad connotations
Effie - OK (but prefer Elfrida/Elfie)
Elva - no, homonym for a baby eel and so just doesn't sound right. Elvira instead?
Frances - like
Jovie - Jon Bon (or boys nn for Jovian)
Noa - not to my taste, but OK
Onyx - dislike
Quinn - boys name
Romy - OK
Teryn - like

Echobelly · 21/10/2018 21:58

• Noa
• Romy
• Andie - would spell it that way... wondering if there's a longer name it could be a familiar of (Andrea?) as I think it's always best to give them a birth-certificate name that is more formal if they'd prefer it later
• Effie - Nice, but as above, might give a full name on birth cert
• Frances - Nice as a bit unusual these days, could shorten to Frankie
• Onyx - kind of depends how well it works with your surname to me - a name like that could sound quite cool with a fairly common surname, but may seem OTT with an unusual one
• Elva, • Jovie , • Teryn - all sound a bit 'made up', even if they're not
• Blair • Quinn - Not fond of girl's names that sound like surnames

TurquoiseWeekend · 21/10/2018 21:58

I only like Romy and Blair.
I always think Effie sounds like someone trying not to swear.

TillyTheTiger · 21/10/2018 22:01

Andie (how would you spell it?) for a girl -Andrea
Blair - No
Effie (Effie or Effy?) -Makes me think of iffy, or eff off
Elva - Unusual, not sure I've heard it before but I think I like it. Elvira is also ok.
Frances - Nice
Jovie - is this made up?
Noa - only like it for a boy
Onyx - only heard this for a boy and don't like it for either
Quinn - ok
Romy - not bad, prefer Romola
Teryn - never heard this before either but I like it. She'll have to spell it out though, is your surname easy to spell?

StripyDeckchair · 21/10/2018 22:02

I like Frances and that's all really.

What about Elvira, Emerald, Elfreda or Vida?

Joinourclub · 21/10/2018 22:04

• Andie - neither like ur dislike
• Blair - bleurgh
• Effie (Effie or Effy?) - I like
• Elva - vulva
• Frances - too staid
• Jovie - doesn’t sound like a name to me
• Noa - makes me think of a car
• Onyx - no no no
• Quinn - quim
• Romy - cute
• Teryn - terror

lovelyjubilly · 21/10/2018 22:07

In order of preference:
Elva
Jovie
Romy
Andi
Quinn
Blair
Noa
Onyx
Teryn
Frances
Effie

BeachCrow · 21/10/2018 22:07

Romy, Frances and Elva are lovely. I don't really like the rest and Blair makes me think of Tony Blair and Jovie makes me think of Bon Jovi.

Cheeseplantandpickle · 21/10/2018 22:09

I have an Effie, short for Elspeth, so...👍
Otherwise Frances.

RavenWings · 21/10/2018 22:10

• Andie - if short for Andrea or Antonia, yes. By itself no. And I'd spell it Andi.
• Blair - love
• Effie - meh, insubstantial
• Elva - gorgeous Irish name
• Frances - meh
• Jovie - Jon Bon. No.
• Noa - will = the boy's name Noah to most people, no.
• Onyx - a Pokemon, no.
• Quinn - surname of a crook/businessman. No.
• Romy - no.
• Teryn - I like it, but don't love it.

I'd use Elva or Blair. If using Antonia nn Andi I'd add that in too.

desperateforsleep2 · 21/10/2018 22:10

Is this a wind up

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 21/10/2018 22:12

Frances is the only one I really like. Elva is okay. The rest, no. Especially no are Romy (mystified as to this one's popularity), Onyx, Blair and Quinn.

Xanadu44 · 21/10/2018 22:15

Love Andie and Romy

babypsmum · 21/10/2018 22:19

If my son was a girl she would have been Romy. Love it!

queenbeetofive · 21/10/2018 22:19

Love jovie (heard it on the movie elf and have always liked it)

Romy would be my second choice ( but I prefer it spelt romi )

Don't like any of the others

Shadow1234 · 21/10/2018 22:21

Romy is my favourite (know of one, who is 22) such a pretty name!
Quinn as second choice
Not keen on others

DreamsofJacaranda · 21/10/2018 22:57

Romy and Frances are both alright.
Elva makes me think of a young eel, an elver.
Blair makes me think of Tony, and also the film.
Effie makes me think of effing and blinding.
Teryn isn’t as nice as Merryn.
Andie is ok.

Redbrook · 21/10/2018 23:36

Andie - as a short form of Andrea
Frances - love this
Romy - is Ok

None of the others

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/10/2018 23:44

Andie (how would you spell it?) - nah
• Blair - nah
• Effie (Effie or Effy?) - gorgeous
• Elva - god NO
• Frances - love it and Franky or Fran are cute
• Jovie - eh?
• Noa - seriously?
• Onyx - NO
• Quinn - FTLOG don’t go there
• Romy - very pretty, love it
• Teryn - nope, why? It’s my Dads names

mathanxiety · 21/10/2018 23:56

Like, in 1, 2, 3, 4 order:
Romy
Frances
Elva
Andie

Dislike a lot, in no order:
All the rest - they are in the 'dreadful' category.
