A friend of mine is due in a few weeks with a girl - she's set on the name Panda. I questioned it at first, & she is insistent that it is no different to the increasingly used names Bear, Fox, Wolf etc, etc... I have got used to it and it is slightly growing on me but still can't shake the thought that she's going to get hurt at bad reactions!! Does anyone on here having anything positive to say about it? 😂

(I have suggested Pandora nn Panda but she's not sold at all) Hmm

She's probably winding you up. She's sick of talking about baby names and everyone having an opinion.

She's actually going to call the baby Olivia Lilly.

CarryOnScreamingValenta · 21/10/2018 18:28

Another vote for Pandora, with NN Panda.

3out · 21/10/2018 18:37

Really hoping their surname is Monium

FekkoTheLawyer · 21/10/2018 19:09

I had a tshirt that said that (with a cartoon panda on it). I thought it was funny.

3out · 21/10/2018 19:14

Fab!
Hoping there’s a little brother to follow, named Har

Rebecca36 · 21/10/2018 19:24

Suggest Pandora, she can be called Panda as a nickname. Panda as a proper name for a little girl is too silly for words. Would she call a child Penguin or Ferret? Honestly! I feel the same about Bear and Fox. Wolf is a German name, it means 'path' (as well as wolf of course), but I don't like that either.

MikeUniformMike · 21/10/2018 19:34

Har could be short for Harry-Beau

blueskiesandforests · 21/10/2018 19:38

Wolf in German means wolf. I think it's only a surname. Ulf sounds a bit like wildfire and is a forename.

I still think the friend is having the op on and just quashing discussion of real names because she doesn't want suggestions.

blueskiesandforests · 21/10/2018 19:39

A bit like wolf not wildfire. Not sure where wildfire came from!

blueskiesandforests · 21/10/2018 19:40

Harry-Beau Grin

doublethink · 21/10/2018 19:42

Panda and Harry-Beau are my new favourite names Grin

C0untDucku1a · 21/10/2018 19:43

I tesch in a school which, over the past ten years due to
Immigration
From lots of different countries, has become multi-cultural. Nobody bats an eyelid at any name anymore. They are all
Normal to the children.

Name your child what you like. But spell it correctly. Panda wouldnt raise an eyebrow. I know someone somewhere, if this gets popular as a name, will try to squeeze a y in to the spelling.

3out · 21/10/2018 19:51

Harry-Beau is brilliant! Hahahahahahaha!!

bluetrampolines · 21/10/2018 20:06

Budgie?

Moominfan · 21/10/2018 20:07

The pennies just dropped Harry-beau

Thismummyruns · 21/10/2018 20:17

Stop the world, I want to get off

bluetrampolines · 21/10/2018 21:10

I cant see what Harry Beau said. What happened?

3out · 21/10/2018 21:23

Say it fast @bluetrampolines

HopeGarden · 21/10/2018 21:23

I can’t believe anyone would name a child Harry-Beau

Topseyt · 21/10/2018 22:30

Panda is ridiculous as a name for a child. I'm not a fan of animal species as names for children.

Perhaps she could call the baby Giraffe, Elephant or Hyena.

Topseyt · 21/10/2018 22:32

Harry Beau is even worse.

What's wrong with some people?

Pemba · 22/10/2018 01:46

I think Harry Beau was a joke..

moredoll · 22/10/2018 02:03

Fabulous animal. Ridiculous name.

Yep.

Topseyt · 22/10/2018 02:42

I know Harry Beau was a joke. Panda is every bit as ridiculous.
