Is this name too old fashioned? I’ve been rewatching Call the Midwife and it caught my attention.

I quite like it, and can’t see how it’s too different sound wise from the Lila/Mila names that are so popular at the moment.

Willing to be told it’s awful though!

I love Sile (with correct fada). I had a fantastic teacher called Sile in the gealtacht.

Do what you like; there are far worse names that are so-called cute now, being resurrected. This one beats a great many of them IMHO. It's also better than the new age names mentioned in one thread going on presently.

But isn’t the pronunciation of Sile (with fada) very similar to that of Sheila?

(A vested interest here, being a Sheila and finding I’m ‘a bland, chubby woman in a mundane office job’)

It's the same. But it looks better! Confused
