What's your initial thoughts on the name Mitzi? Is it too cutesy/girly?

As a retired raver, I also got the 90s drug reference.

justilou1 · 30/09/2018 23:01

Great for a poodle or an Eastern German stripper from the early 90’s

AlliKaneErikson · 30/09/2018 23:56

Definitely a Chihuahua.

Polkasq · 01/10/2018 00:37

Ditsy Mitzi. Horrid yappy small dog.

firawla · 01/10/2018 00:40

My piano teachers dog was called Mitzi. As a child I thought it would be a cool name for a girl but now no!

Topseyt · 01/10/2018 00:50

No! Awful.

It kind of suits a small, yappy dog. The only Mitzi I have ever known was a border terrier.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/10/2018 00:58

I immediately think of Mitzi Gaynor (musicals actress) although judging by this thread that seems unusual! It wasn't her real name though. I'd probably prefer to have it as a nickname.

notangelinajolie · 01/10/2018 01:20

In the 70's we had a cat called Mitzi.

Figgygal · 01/10/2018 07:14

Nickname maybe but otherwise no

Randomusername01 · 01/10/2018 07:19

I really like it. Unusual. Can't be bothered with the snobby histronics on this thread. It's not Hitler fgs.

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 01/10/2018 07:21

Hitler and Mitzi do sound quite good together though if you end up with twins.

Toofle · 01/10/2018 07:24

Elderly Jewish Auntie's name.

LunaMay · 01/10/2018 07:29

It reminds me of the pink rabbit on The Ferals a tv show we watched as kids.

TheChineseChicken · 01/10/2018 07:29

Pills

WingMirrorSpider · 01/10/2018 07:34

A toy poodle.

Or a ‘sexy housewife’ from a crap 1970s Carry On type film who answers the door to the milkman in a short black negligee and fluffy high heeled mules.

lrh3891 · 01/10/2018 07:34

I'm going to go against the grain and say I think it's fabulous! Maybe as a nn though with a different "official" name that she can choose if she wants (Mabel and Mathilda both suggested).

It makes me think of an old, rich, upper east side woman with amazing brooches and furs and a penchant for midday cocktails by the tennis lawns not sure how helpful that is

lrh3891 · 01/10/2018 07:37

See also: Muffy, Bitsy, Bunny...

Though it would never ever suggest calling a child Bunny! Or Muffy for that matter.

Sophronia · 01/10/2018 08:24

I like it as a nickname.

Toofle · 01/10/2018 14:24

Irh3891, I think we're thinking of the same person...

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/10/2018 17:35

When I was little a neighbour ( who to me looked about a 100 ) had a dog called Mitzi. It was the scruffiest, smelliest little dog I've ever seen.

SciFiFan2015 · 01/10/2018 17:53

We had a beautiful German shepherd with that name. It's also a gorgeous name but for me always associated with that dog.

SumAndSubstance · 01/10/2018 18:02

Isn’t Mitzi the flame-haired temptress who turns Homer Simpson’s head?

LeeMiller · 01/10/2018 18:21

I'd imagine a posh elderly New York Jewish lady.

QueenOfMyWorld · 01/10/2018 19:09

It was my family dogs name

sadnessin · 01/10/2018 20:39
