So Florence full name shortened to Ren (or could be Wren). I love it but will take opinions! Please be kind..... x

People will call her what you do. My Grandson is Obi, short for Tobias!

TeenTimesTwo · 28/09/2018 19:38

Ren.
=> Diminutive: Rennie
As long as you are happy for her to be referred to as an indigestion tablet.

Florence is currently the most popular baby girls name in our area according to today's local paper.

Call her Renata, Ren for short. She'll have a decent name for when older and because you call her by a diminutive it is less likely to be altered.

I think shortenings which start with a different letter lead to confusion at school and in later life (eg meeting minutes).

Wren is beautiful in its own right.

Floyella · 28/09/2018 19:42

You can't say it's 'just' her name on her birth certificate.

It will be what she's called on the first day of school/ when she applies for jobs/ all the time if she likes it.

If you like Ren call her Wren (which is lovely). Charlotte/ Charlie is much more natural so you can't compare it - and if you wanted to be called Lottie (for instance) your parents couldn't have stopped it.

If I didn’t know better I’d think I wrote this post!! My name is Charlotte but I’ve always gone by Charlie, I want to call my baby Florence and nickname her ren! I have a twin lol, if your birthdays 25/10/1988 call me up Shock lol I think it works well and I’ve told lot of people what I’m planning. I dislike flo too but I’m warning to it. I’ve decided ren will be my special name for her and I just have to accept others may call her flo. X

LadyHooHa · 28/09/2018 19:51

Wren is a silly name for a child. Florence is a beautiful name. If you only ever call her Ren, that's what she will be known as. But please don't saddle her with a ridiculous name (i.e. Wren. Why not Swallow, or Tit?)

Woulditbeworth · 28/09/2018 19:54

I know a grown up Renee. It’s a lovely name. x

Poppylizzyrose · 28/09/2018 19:55

Well I love ren and wren, depends on what you like isn’t it, lots of girls called Robyn...what’s the difference whether you name a child after a flower like rose or a bird like wren.

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 28/09/2018 20:02

I kind of like Ren because of the year of the flood. I think character's full name was Brenda.

adulthumanfemail · 28/09/2018 20:40

@Poppylizzyrose LOVE YOU! Let's do it

Kittykatmacbill · 28/09/2018 21:27

Just call her Wren far nicer than Florence.

Poppylizzyrose · 28/09/2018 22:35

Lol I just love Florence and ren as a nickname, so happy someone else agrees with me. Let’s make it a thing, nonsense idea that certain names can’t be nicknames, it’s up to us! Ren is in floRENce just pronounce the ren when you tell people x
