Onyx or Opal

I really like both these names for girls-
Opinions on both? Which one sounds better?

Opals are traditionally bad luck, so that might put me off.

Neither - and opal is my birthstone. Can't say I find opals particularly attractive. The same as Beryl.

Onyx to me is big 1970s/80s ashtrays and cigarette table lighters. A quick Google search will show you.

I actually don’t think Opal is that out there-rings similar to Pearl to me!

Pearls are also deemed unlucky btw but hasn’t stopped people using it.

Actually, the more I think about it the more I like Opal.

The refuse company around here is called Onyx. A friend saw lots of nice oynx things on holiday. Opal Fruits made to make your mouth water. How about Oryx?

I used to have a horse called Opal. She was an utter twat.

"Opa" is grandfather in German. Don't do that to a child.

The Pokemon is Onix not Onyx (makes all the difference!).

Okay I just have to ask. How on earth is a stone unlucky? Whose in charge of dishing out the bad luck to people that have an opal?
