Help me decide on a girl's name!

Hi All,

I just cannot decide on a girl's name. My surname is Johnson, which I feel will go nicely and easily with most name choices.

I want a name that is sweet and simple and not overly trendy. My options so far are Grace (or Gracie), Alexandra, Rosa, Jessica (my son is Jordan so this option may be cute), or Maria. They're all good options, I feel, and I'm curious what others think. I mostly need ideas on first names but if any of you have first name, middle name combos that'll be helpful, also!

I love Maria, you don't hear it much, such a pretty name.

Alexandra or Maria, don’t hear either very often and both are beautiful. It’s a common middle name but Grace goes well with both.

Maria or Alexandra would both be lovely.

Alexandra is beautiful as is Grace but Grace is quite popular just now. Not so keen on the other ones.

I love Maria. What about Maria Elouise Johnson,
Maria Lucy Johnson, Maria Alice Johnson...

I love Alexandra. And I met a girl the other day called Anna Maria which I loved too.

If by Trendy you mean Popular, I'd maybe rule out Grace ! Lovely name but so popular, even as a surname or part of a double barrel.

All of your list is lovely though! Jessica is my favourite (maybe biased as I have one!) , Also like Maria, it's not very common but so pretty.

Alexandra - beautiful, elegant, strong name.

I don't like Grace with Johnson. I think it's the double S sound.
Alexandra is very pretty but im not feeling it with Johnson.

Honestly all are solid choices and you can't really go wrong with any of them. However I'd go for Maria or Rosa personally.

Grace (or Gracie) - definitely not Gracie as a formal name. Grace is ok. Bit bland though

Alexandra - again, nice but not mad about it. Not amazing with Johnson.

Rosa - love this

Jessica - also in the nice but bland club

Maria - lovely

Grace and Rosa both seem to be really popular in my area at the moment.my favourite of the others is Alexandra.

Alexandra is beautiful with lots of nn options. Alex, Zandra, Ali, Lexi are all names i’ve heard associated.

RavenWings, my thoughts exactly on what you think. Alexandra is nice but I'm not mad about it like you said. Jessica is bland to me but was thinking of doing same consonant to match my son's name but not a fav. My favs are Rosa and Maria like you. You mentioned Maria Grace Johnson which I also considered!

Awwlookatmybabyspider, I'm glad you think Maria Johnson is gorgeous.. that's my name!!! Lol. Several people suggested to mirror my name (with a different middle name) but I think it would feel weird. However, that's the only name I feel 100% certain about, with some very close runner ups! Decisions, decisions! I had boy names ready to go! Haha

ReginaPhalange89, Jessica just keeps coming up in my mind. I think it's too common but still pretty, idk. I'm glad you like the names I am considering; it builds my confidence in my possible choices. I don't want overly exotic names or names that are here today, gone tomorrow. Classic names like Jessica will be in style. My name is Maria and I love it. Lol. I also agree that Grace is common and it used to be my top choice but now , having said the name over and over, I don't think it's the best choice for me.

HPlikecraft, in also think Alexandra is elegant and strong. I want to love it because it's beautiful but I can't get it to stick with me for some reason. Names are so hard. I think I'm too scared to pick a name because I think they're all beautiful in one way of another but I can find excuses not to use them all.

Poisongirl81...that's my MIL's name! I cannot pick any names with known associations. Don't want to think of certain people I know when I see my kid! Haha

Perhaps you just need something else starting with J if you like the matching idea. Jasmine, Joy, Juliet, Jada, Jade, Juliana, Janelle...none of them jump out to me (except maybe Jasmine or Jada), but maybe it's something to think about.

RavenWings, I've considered many other J names and gave Jasmine and Jada the most thought but couldn't settle on either so I crossed them off. I may just do Maria Johnson as you and another poster suggested, which is actually my name. As for a middle, I am leaning towards Alexandra. My final choices are Maria Alexandra, Alexandra Maria or Rosa Maria. I think! Lol.
